Dunno maybe you are? Maybe you aren't. He was better for Leeds last season than Gueye was for us I reckon. Gueye has gone on to prove it in the PL. I have no doubts Phillips will be there before long.

We won't be signing Maupay. Limited budget, can't spend another £20m on a striker when we have no DMs, and still need a keeper and centre halves. Although, Smith is so crazy he just might do it.

Nice shout! Playing this weekend has been: Uganda v Senegal Morocco v Benin Nigeria v Cameroon Egypt v South Africa So none of those sadly. I suppose he may have gone earlier than reported and caught Skhiri. If it's true, it's an interesting move. Get the feeling he's trying to be convinced to sign off on a player. Or maybe both he and Suso were on the fence.

He doesn't even look good on youtube highlights where everyone looks great. Hope we sign him and he's amazing.

Some things have been on there this week that he hasn't attributed to anyone which is a shame. That's one. Not seen any evidence anywhere. Also just now said Smith was there. It has been pretty much the only decent villa account out there and that's because there's no bull or speculation of his own. Just collation. CBA if things are going to be made up on there. Trezeguet doesn't look much good to me but haven't seen much.

I think it helped focus Jack last year to be honest. He was even more fantastic with it than without it. I certainly wouldn't be removing it unless there was a good reason.

He's worth more because he became a symbol last year. A symbol of not being crap. He's like our batman.

Hope we did! I'm certain we're busy behind the scenes. Certain. Yet we sit here with the window closing in 4 week and we can hardly put out an XI that won't lose every match they play. Make some signings and we give Smith a better chance to integrate them and ourselves a better chance of having an enjoyable season.

If Wolves' 2018/19 is the benchmark for you next season, I think you'll be disappointed. They came up with a team of players made mostly up of already PL players that they got for a fraction of their cost. Then they signed more players good enough for Champions League clubs for a fraction of their cost. And added it to their already gelled team. I just want us to get on and sign good players! I have total faith in Smith to coach a competitive side aside from perhaps a smidge of tactical inflexibility that I've mentioned before. I don't want him getting hung out to dry and sent into the season short, it'll be a right mess. Fans will turn, confidence will dry up, and usually the coach ends up getting the bullet which will be an error. "I believe player like McGinn, Mings and Grealish will cause the champions problems." Well I agree with two of them, but we don't own Mings. Grealish gets smashed all the time, what happens if he goes down injured week one? We're done for as it currently stands. We need to get players in to give Smith as much time as possible with them all.

He was sensational last season I agree. If you only want players who are good enough to stop Man City scoring against us I think you're going to be very disappointed this summer.

Didn't say it was simple. Buying abroad isn't a problem, do you just want to buy British? That'll be an expensive summer. If this window we brought in Amavi, Veretout, Gueye and even headless chicken Traore, they would be usable in the squad and OK under Smith. We need to get buying from anywhere, and quickly. Hopefully we will and all will be good come the start of the season. CB Denis Vavro to Lazio DM Dominik Kohr to Frankfurt ST/winger Benito Raman to Schalke. All under £10m each in the last week. All positions we're desperate for.

Deals are happening every week for good players we could have got in for reasonable fees. That's my only sole worry. It's quiet in England but in Europe there's plenty going on. Worries are exacerbated by us needing so many players as well.

Just posted this in the quagmire of the transfer thread... At the moment there is loads of questions around our recruitment team for me. We get one chance at this summer reset with plenty of funds available. This is it. Can't ever remember a turn around of players in our favour like this. Time still to do business but Suso and his team need to pull their finger out. The Championship links simply tell to me that the targets aren't being identified. Deals are happening every week for good players we could have got in for reasonable fees. I sincerely hope that come August this uneasiness was unfounded.

No problem with Jota starting, good player. There's plenty of chat about another wide man though and I can see one being signed as a nailed on starter, Jota more cover for both wings and Grealish maybe as well. Green wasn't good enough for the Championship or League One. If he's making appearances something will have gone disastrously wrong in summer recruitment. Or Green has improved by 500%.

This is the most "speculation" I've ever seen him put on twitter. He usually only puts things up when they're on and about to happen. 8 or 9 is the amount of players we need so I'm glad he wrote about that.

Not for me. Won't come here for less than £100k a week. Phillips is a better player right now. Think that ship has sailed regardless though.

32 days left of the window. 1 signing a week would be nice, and possibly not enough.

That side of it is good yeah. I'd be enjoying it a lot more if we only needed two players max though. We need four minimum and probably six or seven to not have incapable players hanging around the bench every week.

Absolutely think it is. Nixon's livelihood relies on clicks and he got plenty of attention for his McGinn invention, so he's trying something else. It's very quiet aside from click bait guff sadly. The closer the start of the season gets the team will get concerned how thin the squad is as well.
