If we aren't desperate for money, I think he's worth a lot to keep around as a squad member. We have so many new players, attitude continuity is vital and Chester is a top pro. If you take that out of it, £7-8m is great money for him. Last season he was horrible but injured, fair enough. But for me, he's only looked good next to Terry. He was average before Terry and poor after him. He's 4th or 5th choice now, and in theory, his value will be going down as opposed to up like all our other CB options. If the offer/interest is real it's up to Smith to decide if he's of value just being around the squad. I think he might be actually.

Is he good enough for what will likely be bottom 10 PL? That's a decent level, especially when he's coming from Belgium. Only from highlights he looks brilliant.

Didn't someone mention Sander Berge hundreds of pages ago in here? He turned down Sheff U the other day but doesn't look like he'd come cheap...he also said he doesn't want to join a promoted side. Looks a perfect perfect player for us to me if we could convince him.

If he's starting DM first game at Tottenham, this is the most important signing of the Summer. More than Mings, more than a new keeper, more than anyone. He looks exciting as anything, and having another keen ball player with Jack and John will be a joy to watch. He must screen that defence effectively if he's playing that role though.

I think there's a bit of back and forth going on at the moment. No way Hourihane gets one before McGinn. The Man Utd story, followed by a McGinn contract story in the sun stinks of his agent calling in favours to get more money. I think he's holding on for a bit more dough myself. If he flies early in the PL he might even ask for me, if he struggles, he might sign one already sat waiting on the table for him.
