  1. It'll absolutely transform us in possession. He has issues defensively, but so does Taylor.
  2. My word. Is that where you learnt the phrase butt hurt fan club? Dean Smith very measured 99% of the time. Almost like he's at a tea party. That must vex you.
  3. Who's heard of them though? Up and down the land any failed striker is likened to poor big Emile.
  4. No chance he'll go and play for Nigeria.
  5. Loads of improving to do. Looks soft and easy to play against.
  6. He was signed for the Championship and is of more use to us in and around the squad than Gary Gardner ever was. Problem is he's ended up starting and is part of a weak looking attack.
  7. Who will ever replace Heskey as the template "crap striker" insult?! Legendary figure.
  8. Didn't see the game, just replays of the incident. Hope he's alright because that sort of thing doesn't appear to be behaviour you expect from him. Doesn't fit at all. Annoyed, frustrated, whatever. He can channel some anger into challenging full backs instead of his own team mates. Nothing but powderpuff performances from him so far this season (presuming he served up the same last night); yes, including Crewe and Everton.
  9. I feel like Hourihane has "proven" he can't play that position. And that was in the championship where the opposition are far worse. Luiz hopefully long term answer, not sure he's the short term one. Can see Hourihane starting actually. I want to see this leader the team are always talking about. Never seen a player talk so positively yet shrivel into themselves and hide on the pitch so consistently. Hope whoever starts dominates that area in front of defence leading us to a 3-0 win.
  10. I think McGinn has been good personally. Grealish when he gets the ball is also playing his game OK for me. Maybe a tad deep but he's trying to get us passing. It's the holding midfielder and full backs that are not allowing us to control the ball. We can never settle in possession so are playing on the counter which doesn't suit our methodical way of opening teams up. I certainly think that's Deano's end game, controlling matches as opposed to continually attacking on the counter. If we can improve generally holding the ball and get our usual game going, hopefully we'll already be in decent nick when the time comes we do have play on the break.
  11. Players absolutely yes. Formation must be looked at if we lose the next two. Has to be. I've read quite a few comments on here how bad Norwich were before yesterday's game. They've always looked alright to me and bonus results like that will only help them. So many injuries yesterday and they do that. Performance wise, we've definitely been among the worst three so far.
  12. Both teams will score I reckon. Haller is such a good player. Mingels will be able to stop him turning I reckon, but we need a decent screen to stop Lanzini/Yarmelenko/Anderson shelling shots in on goal.
  13. You could add to the debate and say why you're so positive? It may even spread and you'd see less upsetting comments that astound you. Much better to give your own opinion than sneer at others. Helps discussion on the forum.
  14. I'd pick Hause, Mings, Guilbert, Elmo, McGinn, Hourihane, Steer, John Terry, Ian Taylor and Hercules the lion all ahead of him for West Ham. How you get the idea I have issue with him I don't know. He ain't the best we've got, Deano has it wrong for me. Same as he went for Elmo early on over Fred G. He can defend but we need more on the ball, it's affecting us badly. If he scores the winner in a 1-0 win but played the same game he has been I'd still drop him for Burnley in two weeks. Arsenal is the sort of game he could be useful in. A game at home v a team we could get something from? No.
  15. Speaks sense as usual in the YouTube clip the club posted. We've yet to play well and he knows. His measured manner will be a positive throughout his time here. Hopeful of some decent performances in the coming games, we really need something from West Ham. In all likelihood we'll probably be following it with a loss at Arsenal, and I don't like thought of going in to Burnley at home with 3 points from 6 games. Heavy pressure for early in the season. Midfield needs to get on the ball and move it with authority. Our only spells of sustained possession have come when Bournemouth were sitting back on their 2-0 lead. We're too spread out everywhere and the wide men need to come in closer to Wes at times. It's too much of a flat front 3 unless Jota is there floating off his wing. Taylor still an enormous issue for me, he's not allowing us to build anything down that side of the pitch. I'd be looking at every possible alternative including Guilbert moving over and Elmo back in at RB.
  16. He'll enjoy the atmosphere if Everton is anything to go by.
  17. I'd love to see us try a 352 at some point. Yes, short of strikers for the next game but Kodj could be back for a spot on the bench and 15 mins at the end. The whole thing is pointless is we play Taylor out at LWB/LM though. It would kill us more than he already does in a back 4. Would have to be Targett/El Ghazi/Trez/McGinn/Grealish.
  18. That's a game we have to get something from.
  19. Yes, the starting lineup this season was incredibly deflating. As was Bournemouth. Then finally one of them was dropped and we beat Everton. It was great. I'd like some more wins. We will not win a league game this season if Elmo and Taylor start.
  20. I have zero doubts McGinn would be an absolutely ridiculously good left back immediately. Too good in midfield though.
  21. Just watched Brentford 3-0 Derby highlights. Best player on the pitch.
  22. Hause has a lot more on the ball than Taylor. I can't believe he's starting matches for us. It's incredibly detrimental to our performances.
  23. The heavily linked and excellent Valentin Rongier off to Marseille for €15m.
