Honestly surprised this thread is quite so vicious, maybe it's the loss. That was probably his second or third best game for us. He managed to control it a few times. Made a few passes that weren't absolutely straight forward. Worked hard I thought as well. Disastrous signing. Worst striker in the league. Don't think I've seen a worse player for anyone. If Keinan Davis was putting in these performances, declarations would be being made he needs to go out on loan or just isn't a PL player. The team are getting more and more annoyed with him. It'll be miraculous if we stay up if we have him up front all season.

He's fighting sometimes when he should go down, he's stopping, waving arms and appealing when he should be holding players off. Tyrone keeps putting himself in a position to wildly lump it by refusing various pass options, short and long, so he can dribble the ball around for while. It'll be great when he stops doing it, can't wait. The team and him will both better for it.

£10m does seem a lot, but market is mad at the moment. He's better than Trez and probably more consistent than El Ghazi, though doesn't get near him when he's on top form. We shouldn't be spending any money before we get a striker in. That's the sole major priority.

I'd like someone who can control and kick the ball. Looking only across the PL, Ings, Llorente, Slimani, Jordan Ayew (!), Mousset, Rodriguez and Maupay were all available to us in the Summer and cost less. We'd have more points right now if we had any of these. This isn't to say Wes won't get better, he obviously will under Smith. But he's starting from a level that just does not justify that sort of money. Could we sell him for that now? Doubt it.

Why nonsense? He's a good player. £10m sounds steep though.
