Nothing more they could have done, and I'm sure they'll be reassessing at the end of the their second season in charge. They were probably pleased with the first season where they got promotion delivered to them of course. Criticism of them at this stage is toddler tantrum stuff. Wanting everything right now and thinking it's easy.
  2. Voiding opens everyone up to being sued, I think that's why they'll be desperate to avoid it. We could end up with some sort of international law to stop people suing each other off the back of this because so many businesses and people are going to get screwed.
  3. They're going to **** up football for the next three years to avoid opening a different can of worms. I have no doubt this will be the worst result for us because we're going to go down and have less time than normal to prepare for Championship life without Jack Grealish.
  4. Wilder's bubble won't burst I agree. He's too good. The reason is absolutely his adaptability, not the hard work, they work no harder than us. He's drilled his team with a system no one has ever seen and he switches it mid-game if needs be. He's got different players for different matches and opponents, different tactics from set-pieces, different bloody routines and plans from his own goal kicks depending on the opponent. Hard work will only get you so far and it isn't enough in modern football.
  5. Really **** sad this.
  6. I've only heard about two, I'll probably end up getting through them during this isolation. Crouch is brilliant but I cannot stand those two blokes with him. Giddy sycophants, found it excruciating. Felt like they ripped off magic sponge from a few years ago as well. That featured two comedians I don't like and Jimmy Bullard who I don't like and was a really good listen.
  7. Hope so as that means we get another wad of cash I do think they'll try though.
  8. Pretty confident PL are going to try and start back up behind closed doors. Maybe not April 4th, but I think 11th is a solid bet. EFL will half-arsed follow suit with clubs moaning they need gate, which they do! The EFL help fund they announced today is the only way that's possible. It'll get messy if players get it later on, like April 18th for example. I have a feeling they're just going to try and force it through and tell teams to test everyone else and just carry on. Liverpool will have the title sewn up in three weeks no doubt, so they'll all be calling for the season to be postponed once that's under their belt.
  9. Vidic who Gabby roasted every time we played? Yeah, I'll take Van Dijk over him.

I'm sure @TRO holds Ellis responsible. He was chairman at the time after all. Should have had his ship in order.

And what's your point again? Ah yes, they've got less value for money than a man who was last Villa chairman 14 years ago as though that's comparable. A steady PL player probably cost £5m then not £30m. Bringing up Doug Ellis as a positive example negates any point you have and gives an indication you have no grasp on modern football. Absolutely none. The owners came in, spent a fortune so we didn't die, then appointed an experienced head to run the club. Then they spent monstrously again in the summer because we didn't have a squad due to prior mismanagement. I'm sure you'd have been front of the queue complaining if they hadn't spent. I'm sure they'll be looking at things in the summer whether we go down or not.

Correct. It's boomer logic being dealt with here. Some insist they are right no matter the circumstances.
  14. I think it's too soft from Smith if he stays. I admire his approach, and it would be many would want to be managed. It would work incredibly if all players were as self-motivating as someone like Grealish. Not fit enough? Come in on your day off. Not strong enough? Gym work every day. Not all players are that motivated and need steering, pushing in whatever direction suits. They need managing. At times this year we've looked a total shambles because I don't think there's enough managing of the players that are not good/committed enough to make us an established PL side.

What's that got to do with the owners? Pathetic foot stamping.
  16. No point practicing of course as you can't recreate that pressure.

Goodness me, what world do you live in? What year do you think it is? Doug Ellis?! These things take time. If the only way you'll be happy is us winning the league you may as well stop watching. They've had to spend hundreds of millions in less than two years to move three steps forward and we're about to take one back. What good decisions would you like them to have made? They've gone and got an ex-Chelsea and Liverpool CEO and let him make every football decision, I think that's a quite a good early decision myself. Doug of course would have sat in the boardroom himself, not spent in the Championship last January and we'd still be sat there now.
  18. We've been promoted. The Premier League is more difficult than the Championship.
  19. Yeah, don't think he was rates at those clubs either. Or if he was it was 15 years ago, when the game was chatting with agents, not analytics.
  20. Is any squad capable of PL survival then? Would have been useful if he'd filled the squad with players who have some good fundamentals and can improve. Replace Smith with a realistic manager you'd prefer and where are we? Still in a relegation battle IMO. He's made Smith's job incredibly difficult with these buys. I'll be giving Smith more credit than him if we stay up. And I say that as someone who would sack Smith if we do survive, don't think he's good enough for the PL. Suso has made Purslow's job incredibly difficult by buying players who we won't be able to sell for more than what we paid. If we stay up we probably need another 5 starters to finish above 16th.
  21. We should keep him here and use him as a last 20/30 min man. He's had plenty of excellent cameos but struggles a lot starting. Very talented player who always tries to get it down and pass which is a good trait.
  22. He's blown it Suso. Dashed his record with so many bad signings. Smith has the promotion on his record to give a bit of positivity back.
  23. I'll be amazed if we get more than the £11m we paid. £5m player.
