I think Smith's unwillingness to experiment with formation has meant we haven't been in games as much as we could. The 433 is all he knows and likes, but it only works if the team is on top and willing to play, you can't sit deep/play on the counter 433, and we ended up trying because we couldn't get hold of the ball. When we were in bad form performance-wise, we were such a total shambles. The 343 surprised Burnley and we got a good win, then never really did much beyond that in the league. I don't think Smith ever wanted to do it but had to try something after Watford away, his insistence on three up front was silly bearing in mind our lack of quality available. Now we're back to 433 against Leicester who absolutely ripped us apart playing it last time. We'll need to up it from somewhere to have success with it again, it often left in midfield and 5 up front. A 4231, 352, 3412 would all have been worth looking at. Personnel he was given made this season's job very difficult.

When Stevens was Guilbert's age he had failed at Aston Villa and was playing in League 2. He's done well since and come back up the leagues as part of a good team. If we swapped Fred for George Baldock the Sheff U RWB, you'd be looking on at Fred with jealousy saying look how aggressive he is going to win the ball, while annoyed at Baldock struggling here because we don't have a midfield.

If Bristol City ever get a decent manager they've got enough going on there to get up. Good stadium, good fanbase, good scouting. Can't see it being this season, they're trash every time I see them.

The only ones I'm really bothered about are Heaton, Mings, McGinn, Samatta. Everyone else is replaceable. I think we'll keep all them as well. Heaton is coming back from injury. Mings and Samatta will have three years on their deal, McGinn four.

I've said for a few weeks now it'll line up where it'll be us they need to beat to confirm the league. We'll be bottom by then and be 4-0 down by HT. That'll be a treat.

Gregg Evans is so poor on that Athletic one. He uses so many words to say absolutely nothing with every answer. Athletic really should get Mat Kendrick in. Dan from the VV who has joined him is OK. Real, passionate fan which is good, find myself disagreeing with a lot of what he says but he justifies it all so it's just seeing things differently.

Leeds will be getting promoted this season. No one else anywhere near as strong as Norwich and Sheff U this year to bump them out the way.
