It'll take him a couple of months and he'll be a key man in that side. Put him anywhere. I was totally resigned to going down. Bit of hope now so I don't want him going anywhere. If he was to leave to a UK side, I'd enjoy seeing how far Pep could push him. -

As a centre half, that's a good sign for him I'd say. Many Southampton signings are annoyingly sensible.

But you're sure you want Smith out? Genuine question. You in any doubt? Purslow has the right stuff IMO. Plus he's personally invested and I don't think he's a man who "loses" very often.

A guy who couldn't find a contract so retired and a guy who got bombed out the SPL to take a deal in league one. Experience was probably needed elsewhere.

The logic is all there. People see what they want to see. Many minds have been made up on Smith, there's no debate to be had any more. If we can get a Marco Rose, great, get him in tomorrow. If we can't, Smith staying is the correct move. Plus obviously, Suso leaving is crucial to our future.

We should be using them to find new players and a new manager.

They won't be coming back down as long as Bielsa is there. Plus they're partnered with stats bomb so have great external support with transfers and won't be getting any Suso-esq shite signings this summer.
