I agree last season we were still scrambling to recover from bad squad management and had to chuck em in, that was far from ideal. The quality of player we bought was also a big issue. Obviously it's brilliant we literally couldn't be doing better points wise right now. Our squad is very shallow though, and a real threat opposite Grealish will be very welcome.

Agreed. One injury or suspension massively weakens us. I'm pretty frustrated we've spent £17m on someone who isn't ready to displace Trezeguet.

He's only of any use in a dominant match with your team all over the opposition. Doesn't matter whether international or domestic, Jeff Hendrick or Jack Grealish alongside him. If you're not on top, Hourihane is pointless and will do nothing.

I'm afraid he wouldn't be first choice. We didn't have a striker so pushed the boat out for Watkins. We have a better wide left than Benrahma so I'd be stunned if we paid the money you probably want for him. I'd also be stunned if West Ham paid it.

Wonder how much power the rest of the PL can have. There's some good stuff in there for the lower end of the EFL IMO. But they are definitely killing off any challengers and might try to just say fix it yourselves then and not support them at all.

Had a look at players at his age, in a similar position, who played over 1,000 mins last season in the top leagues around Europe. It's a short but very good list of players. Sandro Tonali, Boubacar Kamara, Hamed Junior Traore, Eljif Elmas, Aurelien Tchouameni, Yacine Adli. (Any of those in bold would be fantastic signings for us going forward) If he's not getting on the pitch much, I would like to see him go out in January. See how things shape up.

Brooks is miles and miles better than either Trez or Traore. It's too quiet though, don't think it'll be anyone except maybe some older cover on loan or something.

In my opinion it was poorly thought out but the question itself wasn't the problem no, it was her responses afterwards. It's like she was bored and decided to play devil's advocate poking those who were basically saying "I can't afford it". The gist I saw before she disappeared off twitter when people said they couldn't afford it or didn't want to pay was her saying well you don't have to go, you've got a choice. Yes, thanks Eni, great input, I think they know it's not essential. They want to go/watch games, and have been able to, now they're being asked to pay more.

I agree. It was like she was baiting people though. Very strange. You would never in a million years find Purslow putting his foot in it to this extent twice within three months. She needs to get off twitter if she's going to remain in a prominent position at Villa, she can't be trusted to not embarrass herself and the club. Aluko is horribly oblivious. Maybe she should try and not having a well paid job she has no credentials for. See if she's so relaxed about spending money. This would be two strikes for me if I was Purslow. Three if you include the signings she's probably responsible for that have been pumped almost every match.

Swear to god I had that in my head when I started and tied myself in knots. Yes, the only issue we have is if City want him for their XI. If it's for anything else, I think we're in a decent place to buy our way out of it.
