  1. I'm a big fan of Lateralus, Parabola being the song that got me to listen to Tool and still one of my favourites. I also don't mind 10,000 Days, though it definitely isn't as good as it's predecessor. Just got hold of Undertow on the basis of Sober being brilliant, impressed me, I imagine that Aenima will be the next step to the more progressive sound of Lateralus. Currently on something a bit different though This Mortal Coil - Kangaroo. That never has made sense to me.
  2. Decided to investigate some of their other stuff, since I don't know much of their pre-Lateralus stuff. Really great song, and as per usual weird video.
  3. I've moved on from the lectures, hallejulah! Some new stuff to me, mght be worth a listen if you fancy something new. I'm not sure what it sounds like, really, reminds me of something I've heard before. Quite dark, hushed vocals, pretentious but for some reason I don't mind it. Might investigate the album, I do suspect it might be samey though. Bit folky. If that hasn't put you off have a listen. EDIT - Worked out who it reminds me of, Jose Gonzalez on a dour down day, like he's playing out of Eeyores arse. Predominately because of guitar style, plucked and quite repetitive.
  4. A lecture on Common Security and Non-Provactive Defence. Sigh.
  5. The Smiths - Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now. Sums it up really.
  6. Off topic by far. I still browse the main forum a fair bit, mainly to keep up with news, but a few things have started putting me off it so post less there now. Off topic is more interesting, by and large, and likely to turn up something I'll want to contribute to. And, for my sins, I browse the gaming forum once a day or so...
  7. Single, dislike it anyway, depending what day it is I'll treat myself to a night on the lash.
  8. Born in Brum, raised in Kingstanding/Great Barr to be not quite specific, temporarily in Wales for university. My dads family all hail from Nechells area.
  9. Wayne Rooney, a week ago, screaming at the linesman. An example of why it hasn't done a thing. Yup in that case the officials were wrong, but it's not very respectful is it? It won't happen, because refs won't be given the backing to say to anyone (no matter who they are) that they will be carded/reprimanded, whatever, for having a go at the refs, because a few clubs have too much power.
  10. Their best in my opinion. Aphex Twin - Hedphelym
  11. I'm absolutely certain we miss him. While we've been picking up a lot of points without him, some of them have been quite fortunate and I don't know whether it's just me (not read the whole thread), but we sometimes look a bit a clueless attacking, especially against teams who are happy to defend. With Carew I feel he offers us a bit more presence upfront and does something different to what Gabby does. Without Carew a team knows that all that is going to happen is Gabby is going to run at them from whistle to whistle and sometimes Young will try a shot or a cheeky cross. With Carew we can play like that or we can have big John laying it off, a different dimension to the attack and the mixing up style makes defending harder.
  12. 5th. I think we'll give it a good go and come very very close, but will finish just outside the top 4.

    Do you read?

Finally finished Pratchetts last one, Nation, if that one counts Justin. Couldn't get into it at first but decent enough. Nothing special at all mind...
  14. Worst Hunter v Dumbest Deer Title is harsh on the deer, it's probably deaf. Still, it amused me.
  15. Upon hearing of his link to Aston Villa, Jesus seems keen...
  16. White Lies - Death Apparently going to be big, sounds like Joy Division with no substance, mixed with load of other post punk/80s stuff. They're alright but my cynicism says they are simply trying to tap into a market for accessible 'darker' music, and a bit of the old emo scene too. It's all style with no depth, a bit like the hateful likes of Duffy, with the glamourous old school crooning soul stuff. Anywho, you'll no doubt be bombarded with this in a few months. into Wolfmother - Collosal. Which is bloody brilliant.

The Vietnam episode was brilliant. Really enjoyed it. I didn't realise that it was sucha spectacular country, that mountain road was something else. Anyone know what a 'faddy Brummie' is though?
  18. Student also, so not too bad on the whole but to me my situation is worrying. I'm amassing a fair whack of debt but I see, currently, no effect of it because it's far and away in the future. My main real worry is the fact I'm constantly in the overdraft, my next loan installment covering, IIRC, my overdraft just about, but also leading to me only having about £600 to live on, after accomadation, for about 3 months. Unless I'm mistaken somewhere. Next few months could be tight. I'm also laughably unemployable, so I'm stuffed. But on the whole there's people much much worse off than me. At least I've got little to lose, other than my dignity.
  19. I'd agree with the Rev, it'll set a precedent that will only lead to it slowly becoming part of every decision. Implement goal line tech, and then a few instances of... a dodgy corner for example, will lead to big results and so on, and people will say 'Hey, we've got this tech for the goal line, lets have it for corners, mistakes are being made and it's costing teams'. And so on. Implementing it for one thing will the little push to get the whole thing on the slippery slope to tech for every decision. Besides, the debate of bad decisions and the like is part and parcel of the game. It would sterilise the game if there was never that talking point in a match. Bicks is right, just make sure that the refs are better. And make sure the influence on them is reduced, best example being the wrath of the drunk Scot.
  20. The above is one hell of a worrying development, especially if things get much worse. Russia, it seems, will be quite quite happy to use any situiation it can to make in roads for itself. Considering their hand is hovering over a fair amount of our fuel supply... not fantastic really. And something that I guess we can expect to become more common, strong arm tactics from the nations possessing the strong hands.
