    Do you read?

No I haven't, the Acid House is my first Welsh book. I was considering getting Filth actually but changed my mind in favour of the Acid House and Maribou Stork Nightmares. If I enjoy them both I'll definitely be picking it up.
  2. Liverpool away, he wins a penalty but also shows us all why he's not a box to box mid, you'd be being very kind to him to claim that ball was under his control when Gerrard steamrollered him. Does it a lot. After all, he wants his freedom!

Currently about 2/3rds the way through Irvine Welsh's Acid House. Quite enjoyed it, for a short story compilation, theres a couple of crackers in there. I've still not managed to get onto the Bridge, it's still packed up in a box somewhere... Might have to wait a little longer as post Acid House, I'm moving onto Maribou Stork Nightmares. It's the final story in the Tiffany Aching character arc, which happens to be just about the only one of his characters I've never particularly liked. Then again his young adult stuff is generally much weaker - it's much less dark and has much less satire, and are more straight stories with perhaps 1 underlying point to be made (if that if my memory serves). The only Pratchett book I've never been able to finish is the previous one in this arc, Wintersmith. Just wasn't much cop.
  4. I've just spent half an hour doing numerous searches for them, I did them not too long after the Liverpool home game IIRC, can't find them now but the outcomes where that Stan tackles as well if not better, passes far better, and pretty does everything defensively NRC does as well if not better. I'm not doing the stats again because they took **** ages. I'm sorry I can't find them for whatever reason. TRO and another NRC man should remember them, it was for their benefit. Here "I look at myself as a box-to-box player," he said. "I am full of energy, I want to be let loose. To have the freedom to go where I want to go". I've spoken at length about that being simplisitc bollocks as well. Blandy agreed IIRC, amongst others. To say Petrov is completely out of it at 60 mins every match is childish as hell and patently wrong.
  5. If saying 'Ron Saunders would have him as the first name on the sheet' is a worthwhile argument to anyone for his use, in 2010, to this side... ...well, I'll be lost for words at the illogical nature of it. It's a complete fallacy. All it means is Saunders would have liked him. So what? Saunders isn't the manager anymore, Saunders isn't in the management lark anymore, he was 30 years ago. It means nothing at all, it's completely irrelevant. Right, I'm making a promise to myself, I'm becoming blind to the word NRC, I'm fed up of even having to waste the energy on him debating opinions of him.
  6. It's based on stats in part, and watching him in part, and his own beliefs of himself somewhat. I really cannot be arsed to go over it (again) in any detail, but his passing is pretty naff, his touch awful, can't run on the ball despite regularly trying, his tackling is good but it's no good only having that to your bow, and for all his effort and 'trying hard' he actually does **** all. And this from a bloke who thinks he's a box to box mid. For all the criticism Petrov's ever got, he does everything NRC does, and can actually play football too. NRC has served his purpose, I thank him for that, move him on to the likes of Stoke or whoever will buy him. I'm also frankly fed up that such a mediocre player has such a wealth of time spent mithering over him. Rather like the talk of Gareth Barry once he'd left, I'm hoping we can consign wasting the effort over him to the past, sharpish. Now lets never speak of him again.
  7. I'm alluding to your argument being absolutely without point when referring to 'He'd be the first name on the teamsheet with Ron Saunders'. It means nothing. You use it to justify your position on NRC's use to the side, but it does nothing of the sort. Just because he'd be the first name on the sheet for Saunders doesn't mean a thing to todays MON, 2010 side. It's utterly irrelevant. It's no different to the Hitler fallacy, as I alluded to.
  8. Hi Chindie yes mate.... because it was somebody I rated very highly and rather than speculation which some on here wallow in....its fact. I would value Ron Saunders opinion on football over O'Neill any day. not saying O'Neill has done a bad job, but neither did Gregory or Little and thats the company I would just about put him in..... no disrespect to them of course. Thought you may have come back with a tangible response rather than a personal sleight. .....sorry for benchmarking a great Manager. Ps Oh and bye the way I had the opportunity and good fortune to meet Tony Barton on one occasion .....his thoughts and opinions on football , just blew me away. Highly intelligent man in terms of Football and great talent spotter. It wasn't a personal slight, it's a criticism of your argument that amounts to something similar to the Hitler fallacy, which dictates because Hitler did it, it's bad. For you, because Saunders would do it (...30 years ago...) it's right. Logical fallacy.
  9. Hopefully sorted soon enough. We can move on and spend the money then.
  10. I think Delph will simply become a straight up box to box man, good at most of the jobs a CM will be required to. I suspect he'll bulk up a fait bit over the coming season or so (when fit of course). Anywho, it should be said that this topic is just going to retread very well trodden ground, and achieve nothing. There's been countless topics on this and variants of it, and I'm yet to see anyone change their mind. Will be locked soon enough I suspect.
  11. Long term, neither. Petrovs 30 and NRC is shit (and doesn't want that role). Short term, Petrov. He's exceptionally good at the role. I'm not sure Delph will be 'just' a holding mid either.
  12. Reserve squads just aren't good enough for Man Citeh. No, they have the Elite Squad
  13. Welcome Lesbianvixes, you might want to say hello to a few members.
  14. Keeper kit is the vile template Nike have whacked out this season. Quite like the away as well.
  15. He has and we were. We'll soon find out if there was anything to it. Apparently it's been rumoured Frey's destination will be Bayern.
  16. Madrid appear to be focusing heavily on signing highly rated players that still have a bit more to grow into. Not quite prospects (they already are performing to a high level at current clubs/national sides in the case of Di Maria and Khedira) but with the ability to still go a bit further. Not a bad tactic if you've got the moolah to pursue it.
  17. I really like it. I need to get a new home shirt (not bought one since the first Nike home one) and this might have me sold. Looking forward to seeing the away.
  18. Was supposed to this evening Darren but so tired I've had to drop out of it. Bed calls!
  19. Thank you. I'm sorta glad that that chapter of life is closed now, formally. Busy day, I'm absolutely shattered, lots of travellign and running around on top of an early morning after little sleep. Looked even more stupid than most others because I forgot to get my haircut, the mortarboard was having none of it and made the hair even worse. But I'm glad it's done and glad to have acknowledgment of the achievement, even if it was all in Welsh and punctuated by a 15minute flute and harp performance
  20. I'm now officially a BscEcon. Yay.
  21. I graduate tomorrow. I'm really not looking forward to it.
  22. From the reports I've seen from Belfast, it largely looks like scum looking for an excuse to kick off. Not convinced many of them would genuinely be 'politically active'.
