  1. Watched Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind earlier, for the first time. It was alright. Might need a rewatch for me to really get why it's so good. It currently sits at 'Pretty good if nothing earth shattering' on my scale.
  2. Iron and Wine - Love Vigilantes Cheers Bicks, I've now acquired the latest Iron and Wine album thanks to that recommendation.
  3. But does lycra hate you? I'll leave Rob to ask for evidence.
  4. Hadn't heard that, cheers. Very good. It's not so much 'their' as 'his' cover though, just the one guy, Sam Beam. I never like it when a solo artist takes on a 'band' name, it makes referring to them a pain in the arse. 'Iron and Wine are playing tonight' or 'Iron and Wine is playing tonight'? 'Is' is more correct, 'are' sounds better given the name... On Dark Night of the Soul as well, I'm not that enamoured with it. I think it's good, better than most things, but I was expecting something genuinely brilliant and it doesn't quite hit that for me. Especially with Lynch involved. Might need more listens but not holding out much hope.
  5. The P51 Mustang, the famous (and arguably best) fighter plane of WW2, was the first fighter aircraft to feature intentionally designed laminar flow wings (laminar flow being the flow of air over the wing with the least possible amount of turbulence, meaning the 'smoothest' cutting of the air by the wing).
  6. into I've always had a soft spot for Iron and Wine so coming across these collaborations with Calexico (who I know nothing of, may fix that) is great. Not the most complex music or anything, but always mellow and always touching. Not bad for a music teacher.
  7. I did say, Blandy, that I was being basic to the point of it not quite being right . The fundamental point of the discussion, that the BNP bear a closer familial relationship with Labour than the Tories, remains the same - it's just the case.
  8. 25th Hour is an interesting little film. Very good but I can't quite put my finger on why. Upto 22 on the AV Club list. Eternal Sunshine next I think.
  9. Yes... but it wasn't a poll!
  10. No. He will always pick up niggling injuries and only tends to look genuinely threatening when he can be arsed to turn up, which isn't something he does week in week out.
  11. All working 'socialism' discriminates. It has to. They take it to the next stage. The only perfect system of socialism is one without borders and without boundaries, and that doesn't, and has never existed, and is unlikely to. Thus, we accept that socialism is something that can describe a less than perfect example of it but bearing the hallmarks - society, the state, providing for those they accept into it. Thus, national socialism, is still a form of socialism, if a limited and oxymoronic one.
  12. I don't understand how anyone can disagree with this Well, just because it says that everyone other squad member is fed up with MON and annoyed with him.. bar Petrov (echoing the lovechild 'joke', hilarious), I'll disagree with it.
  13. But that ideal of looking after anyone is one that is left leaning. The Coinservatives, to be blunt and basic (and in some way wrong but lets run with it), tell you to help yourself. The BNP, and Labour (traditionally), say we'll help you. Thats something a traditional Conservative would not, and it's a fundamental aspect of why the BNP is closer to Labour's heartland than the Conservatives. If you can't accept that... you're just wrong.
  14. Strip away their racist policies and the BNP are the most socialist party of any prominence, as far removed from Conservatism as you could get. The BNP are not socialists by any means. There socialism doesn't exist once they start discriminating against people of different ethnicity. National socialism - they pretty much define the term. If you are in their clique - they wish to look after you.
  15. Well, since I've never seen either, I'm going to seek out 25th Hour and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind today/tomorrow I think. There a few films on there I have no interest in seeing whatsoever so I doubt I'd complete the 50, but I reckon I've got cause to break the 30 mark.
  16. Spurs have bid and been rejected for Scott Parker. Gold and Sullivan will be pleased, they'll be able to sell him for the bit of money they're desperate for.
  17. I've got no particular desire to be kind to Everton , so I'll stick with saying in my view he's one of the worst in the Prem, no loss or not. He was just an absolute stinker of a signing.
  18. As a Villa fan you should know one better. (....not Heskey!) He's even worse than Balaban in my view. Probably top 5 worst signings in the Prem. Reasonably big money at the time for Everton, plays once, is absolutely woeful, swiftly packed back off to Italy.
  19. ...inspired by the AV Club list by any chance? I have no idea why, but I always thought New World was supposed to be crap.
  20. I've got into the habit of listening to Radio5 while in bed. It's quite interesting listening late at night to be honest, to nod off to.
