  1. Just finished watching 2001. First time I've it at an age to truly appreciate it. Spectacular.
  2. Sort of but not really. I thought it looked like Hugo Weaving but it isn't him. Theres hints in it what the film is but it would never have clicked with me. The only one I literally have no idea on now is 38.
  3. Just discovered what 29 is... It's a great film but you'd struggle to get that from just the poster
  4. 29 was one of the 4 I couldn't get, and probably the most intriguing of the lot. Based on that poster I'd probably see the film without having a clue what it was.
  5. You're right on Aliens, that is the poster for Aliens but they think it's Alien 3 for some reason. Number 6 is right though, that is the poster for Alien. I nearly bought it a while back because I reckoned it'd look fantastic on my wall... and then I saw the price.
  6. Bonkers Polish Poster Quiz I got 13 straight off the bat, 26 when I thought about it for a while, and 36 with Googles help. Worth noting number 2 is broke for some reason, it's definitely a film that they seem to think is wrong.
  7. I have something to get over?
  8. Thought as much. Pseudo-something or other.
  9. If Western society is quite that bad I think it's fairly easy to leave it behind for the simple life in some uncharted corner of the world.
  10. I think the feeling of cheapness mostly came from the materials used to make it, the back particularly is very very plasticy, and not in a good way, it feels slightly nasty actually to me. The best way to describe I think is, you know, the difference between the plastics in a really nice upmarket car, and the ones in a bit of a budget end car. Theres not that premium feel, theres good plastics and bad plastics and the Galaxy S back cover is definitely in the latter realm for me. When you then compare it to other phones it has a bit of a low rent feel. Even my N97 has a more upmarket feel to it in the hand, which comes from the combination of nice plastics, a solid feel and a bit of weight behind it, which I actually quite like. Given that a lot of phones are moving to more upmarket materials, aluminium for example, the Galaxy S doesn't wow in the hand as much. It's still a spectacular bit of kit but I think it could have been a true no brainer purchase if it had that little bit more about it in it's construction. And a flash on the camera .
  11. Had a bit of a play with a Galaxy S today, scouting potential upgrades kinda thing. Nice bit of kit but the feel of the thing really takes the shine off the... experience?... of using it. It feels incredibly cheap. A feeling not helped by the lightness, it doesn't have that reassuring weight we (perhaps wrongly) tend to associate with well made things. It's almost too light. But otherwise quite liked it, even with the personal reservations I've always had with Samsung's phones, never found one I particularly liked using.
  12. I dislike This Week so I have every reason to avoid him anyway but his presence only makes it worse, he really is an absolutely hateful old bastard, a real bitch. I'll escape to a film before I get given a heart attack.
  13. She also has another method which appears to be Question - search Tory index for rebuttal - answer not found - answer vaguely related question as a post script to following phrase 'I'll come to your question but first...' - hope David Dimbleby doesn't notice and don't answer first query. I know all politicians do it but **** me it's like a robot doing it with her.
  14. I think if she breathed in deeply we could say goodbye to the hall they're in, put it like that. Is it just me who thinks she's actually a bit thick too? She relies on the crutch of the party line a little too much, her train of thought appears to be Question - Answer = Party Line with a sort of automation that suggests she's not really even thinking about it. A couple of times she has had to think she just repeats herself like a broken record for a while she searches the tory index for the appropriate rebuttal.
  15. ...I'd say some of it is formulated intended propaganda but thats for another thread .
  16. Warsi I just hate. She seems able to use rhetoric like a sledge hammer, without any nuance. She appears unable to... well, think. She just toes the Tory line with terminal intensity. You could replace her with a big blue anchor with the latest Tory line on it and have done. It'd be quieter and achieve as much and be substantially less annoying. And you say Tony she got a good round of applause but she's twice been flummoxed by a question and just replied with 'TORY TORY TORY' screeching, and also got the biggest couple of derisory gasps I've heard on QT. And deserved them too. Clarke just seems to be sensible... I appreciate that. He also hasn't just waded in with the Labour rhetoric which I appreciate even more. EDIT - Go the woman that told Warsi she wanted to finish!
  17. Oh ****, Sayeeda Warsi is on Question Time, this'll see my blood pressure spike. Charles Clarke's done well so far though, never realised he had his head screwed on so well. Must be the wingnuts on the side of it.
  18. I think it's already got a name sadly . Big Lie method. Thank Goebbels for popularising it
  19. I didn't say it didn't make it a difference and I didn't say a family on £44k is well off either. What I said was yes, it was helpful. But it's not like you'll be destitute without that £80 a month and absolutely need it is it? I happen to think that benefits should be given to people who require it, rather than ones where it'll be nice to have it. I think a family could live quite well on a £44k income, even accepting all the costs family life has.
  20. Well, no obviously. I don't think that precludes me from coming to a quite, quite sensible conclusion - £44k is enough to survive quite, quite well, £20 a week extra. My parents never came near earning that much in a year and raised 3 children very well. Never wanted for a thing. £20 extra is obviously helpful for anyone. But is it absolutely necessary for a household on at least £44k a year? I severely doubt it, and if it is necessary, theres a distinct possibility in my mind that theres something wrong with how you're looking after your money.
  21. Yes, got a job interview! Woohoo!
  22. I agree that a household with an income in the region of £44k does not need child benefits and should not be getting them. I disagree with the utterly ridiculous way they're trying to implement it on the individual and not household income, which despite you asking is not possible to ignore in any debate of this policies merit. So I can't vote.
  23. Kermode famously doesn't think much of the Star Wars trilogy as he's a fan of harder sci fi and the Star Wars films are, in those terms, fluff. He also thinks the Toy Story trilogy is the best trilogy ever made because its, in his opinion, the only trilogy that doesn't have a weak installment. Generally though I think he's spot on, his like of the Twilight films (and his like of 'genre film making') are his main foibles.
  24. I'll be having a chicken tikka makhani tonight. You can feel it being unhealthy as you eat but **** me it's tasty. Not really hot but full of flavour.
