  1. Pires is useless, Carew anonymous, and the entire team dire. Awful, indefensible performance. Clueless. I normally manage to not get overly angry these days watching our matches, but I'm struggling here. Such an impotent performance.
  2. Seeing him just trying to break and noticing the 2 Arsenal players he was never doing for pace before just not bothering to run anymore would have been hilarious if he weren't playing for us  Clueless in attack again.
  3. Pires starting doesn't fill me confidence. Nor does Carew who hasn't turned up to give a performance in quite some time. I'll stick with the limp 2-0 loss.
  4. 2-0 Arsenal. We'll do better than we did against Blackburn but we'll get the same result. I just hope we get a grip on the game, Arsenal, even weaker than they might like, are capable enough of completely destroying a side. We've already struggled against Blackpool this season in terms of being stuck in our own half, I dread to think what Arsenal could do given the same opportunity.
  5. Aye, it's the same for a load of things. It makes sense for them to do it and hey, generally the online price for, for arguments sake, Asda, is better than the store price. But it is annoying because, and I'm sure I'm not alone in doing this, I'll pricecheck different places before leaving the house and pop in somewhere while I'm out. And regularly the store price is completely different. The shop I work in has had to actually start explaining to people that our website is basically a different company after a few people have seen prices on there and popped in only to discover the store price is a good couple of quid different. Thinking about it it actually gets more confusing because the website will often be used to advertise things that are in store as well, but it's pretty much potluck what is.
  6. When shops have websites that are seperate to the store - that is the prices don't match up and have differing offers. I'll sometimes browse a few websites if I'm interested in getting something and likely to be popping out shortly, and increasingly I've found that shops websites don't actually match up with the store. Some still do, but they're on the wane.

  8. I'd be fairly certain ours is the best bid by miles. It's been said enough times that, if we had to, we could probably host a major tournament tomorrow, we're spoilt for choice with top class stadiums pretty much country wide, transport is pretty good, etc etc. I can't escape, however, the feeling that we won't get it. As said, we wouldn't bend over backwards to let FIFA rake in money, and I've also never felt that FIFA particularly likes us. I reckon it'll be Spain/Portugal. Spain's current dominance in the sport seems to have ushered in an era for them to be flavour of the month, and I think that play into their hands, and I also think Spain may be lenient on letting FIFA walk over them. The only issue I can think of with such a bid is Portugals recent holding of the Euros might put off FIFA giving them the World Cup so soon after (even though obviously both tournaments are different organisations and unrelated). Wouldn't be surprised to see it go to Russia either but I do think a few issues that FIFA don't want to touch (allegedly one of the more racist nations on earth, even more so than Spain ( for example) might stop them. I also can't help thinking a Russian tournament would be **** bollocks as a spectacle somehow, better than this years but still with a strange atmosphere to it somehow.
  9. Villa find themselves in 13th place in the Premiership. What do you think is a realistic target for Houllier in his first season. At the moment? Top half. How do you feel Gerard Houllier has settled and what do you hope from him as a manager He's appeared to have settled fairly well although I myself am still not quite sure of him. I hope he can take Aston Villa on. Thats all I can hope. I think hope is the important word there - I don't think he'll achieve much more than we saw under the previous incumbent if he's lucky. Do you feel that Houllier can get the best out of Emile Heskey He appears to be able to. Unfortunately, Heskey can't seem to get the best out of himself as he keeps breaking. After Citeh came in and took two of your better young players what do you think needs doing to replace them. Is youth development an option or is the only way the transfer window. Am I missing something with Citeh buying 2 of our better young players? It's only Milner and Barry isn't it (who himself was hardly young). Youth development can augment the transfer window, but it's foolish to rely on it, especially if we wish to advance our status - it's not easy to develop great players, as pretty much every academy in this country has discovered. A few that are good enough come through, and rarely one that is exceptional. Do you feel that Robert Pires is an inspired signing or do you feel he is ‘over the hill’ He's over the hill and hardly inspiring. He's come in to fill in. Theres a feeling that this kind of signing is either a massive success or a whimerping failure... I suspect he might be neither, I fact I think he'll be barely noticed by the wider audience of the Prem during his stay. Liverpool have a bit of “history” with regards to American owners. Villa have had Randy Lerner in since 2006. What positives and negatives do you feel he brings to the club. He appears to be professional and very hands off, he's helped raise the image of the club a bit (though undoubtedly not as much as he would like. He's put in decent (and very necessary) investment but we need more. The negatives are probably the size of his wallet, and a certain sense of naivety imo. I feel Villa fans are very lucky to be able to have contact and information from The General. How important for supporter/club development do you feel this has been and do you think it should be encouraged across other clubs For me at least, the novelty has worn off. It is not an altruistic thing that the club has done, its as much for the benefit of the board as it is the fans. Recent times have seen the General become almost a propaganda machine, and it left a sour taste. As have moments of inprofessionalism. For a few things, it has it uses... but I think the relationship is growing tired and the slowing interest in his latest thread I think dictates to everyone that a lot of it is rather pointless PR. It's nice and everything but not really that useful. Martin O’Neill left at a crucial part of the season and it seems since then he is constantly being linked with the Liverpool job by the media as soon as an opportunity arises. How do you feel he would do as Liverpool manager, given the current financial situation and also with funds available. Better than the current incumbent but that position is, as things stand, even with new owners, somewhat of a poisoned chalice imo. How do you feel Roy Hodgson has done since taking the Liverpool job. Not terribly well. He's not helped by the squad though. Other than Gerrard or Torres who would you take from the Liverpool squad and why? No idea. Theres not much to choose from. Last season we had two good games together with Villa winning at Anfield and Liverpool winning at Villa Park. Both games had “talking points” in them and I feel this is always the way with our encounters. What do you expect from this game. Ugly, dull, and hardly a mouthwatering spectacle. We can't score goals and are somewhat schizophrenic, Liverpool have become even more dull and defensive minded. I think it's going to be crap. And finally what would you predict as a final score for our game? 1-0 Liverpool and a chorus of groans, snoring, and talk of 'but at least the kids are alright, eh?!!!!'

    Top Gear

Christmas special, mentioned up page. They're travelling to Bethlehem apparently. As for an American version, if it isn.t godawful I'll be shocked. A lot of the appeal of Top Gears humour for me is its British sensibility, and I can't see a Yank version nailing it in anything other than a sloppy imitation that reeks of the younger brother copying it's sibling. Badly.
  11. My beard comes through brown, ginger, black and blonde in different areas. Got a picture knocking round somewhere from the last day of Movember last year where a full on beard shows up the weird selection of colours.
  12. Welcome BestyMerryBMW. I've never met a merry BMW, or indeed a melancholy Mercedes, a violent Volkswagen, or awestruck Audi.
  13. Meant to upload this months ago. On reflection, this is surprisingly one of the better photos of that day. Probably should have got a haircut before too. And be ready for the photo.
  14. Well, what I can say, I'm a useless lump who doesn't like public transport and has a mate who is hard to get hold of to enlighten me as to exactly where I'm headed. Anyway, another thing currently pissing me off, tinyurl.
  15. Thanks, I'll bear that in mind. To be honest I think I'd prefer the buses. I should be ok when I've got all the details, my whinging is more about the fact I'm trying to fudge my way through it without all the facts so to speak, than it is about the London transport network. My mate is even more last minute than me with a lot of things and I'd rather not leave it that late to know where I'm going or where I'll need to leaving from and when.
  16. Journey Planner Cheers, couldn't find that. ...now he needs to tell me what station is the one he uses from his place .
  17. I should have probably added that it doesn't help my mate who I'm staying with hasn't embellished me with half the info on stations, so I'm trying to work it out on the fly while I wait for him to actually tell me . All I know is tomorrow I arrive in Euston, on Wednesday I need to make it from his place outside the city to Stamford Brook station, and nothing else. I think not knowing the vital linking stations is probably hindering me a lot more than it might otherwise.
  18. Gotta go to London tomorrow, staying for a couple of days down there. I've only ever been once, and that was a school trip to the Dome. This time I need to have be able to get around the place on my tod, quickly, and trying to work out the underground/trainstations/etc when I've not a clue what I'm doing is doing my head in. Doesn't help I'm actually staying outside London and commuting in for the main day I'm down there.
  19. Really interested in the American, have been since Eberts review a while back, which was pretty gushing about it. Got a feeling Corbijn could end up being a properly good director. Control was a spectacular debut and the American is by most accounts brilliant.
  20. Newlyn in Cornwall is the place used to set the UK's mean sea level.
