  1. UK Press now playing up alleged contact between Breivik and the EDL. Breivik himself has accepted responsibility for the attacks but not criminal responsibility. He has apparently decided he shouldn't be charged.
  2. The Lovely Bones is a truly grim film. It effectively advocates a young girl being murdered as not being the worst thing in the world. It's a pretty grim concept to start with but the tone never really settles on the right note. Considering the film is about a girl being murdered it doesn't seem that bothered about it. Mark Kermode was bang on as well when he citicised it for it's portrayal of the 'afterlife'. Its one of those concepts that doesn't translate to film terribly well. It either becomes twee or boring. Jackson manages both. It's an absolute pup of a film.
  3. I had 2 months growth of a beard until the other night. Had to shave it off for a night out. I actually miss it, my face looks too different now
  4. I sported the Hulk Hogan tache for a few days doing Movember with some friends at uni. You'll get some looks from people. If you don't want people to point and laugh, abandon the endeavour now. I only did it because it was for a laugh/charidee. 2 nights out like it was enough. Best advice I can give I guess is grow out a bit of a beard first for a few weeks and then shave it into that shape - you can swing the dishevelled beard look more than you can the 'tache itself as it grows out.
  5. But to go round shooting 80 odd takes a little bit of skill and a lot of mental preparation. I hadn't heard that, interesting. He is also alleged to be a keen hunter so that would also account for his ability with a firearm. As for the mental state to actually do it, seems he was planning this for quite some time, and looking into his lawyer's comments he seems to have basically convinced himself of the 'necessity' of doing what he did, whilst also describing it as a 'gruesome' task. Also interesting to hear that his 1500 page manifesto apparently contains rather a lot of stuff ripped off from the Unabomber's manifesto. I did wonder earlier in the thread just how much explosive he had used in the bomb - it turns out he made and used rather a lot of a very, very powerful explosive (and terrorist favourite) called ANFO, used commercially in quarrying.
  6. He could be out long before that, if paroled. Norways maximum sentence is 21 years - you cannot be sentenced to a longer incarceration. However, if you are given a specific type of sentence, which is handed out rarely, you can theoretically be held longer if when you become eligible for parole you remain a threat to society. In that event, you are given further years but with the caveat that at any time under that term you prove yourself safe to society you can be paroled. I suspect this fella may earn himself that special sentence.
  7. Found out that the CE is a GAME Group exclusive. Which means I have to actively try to sell the thing. Sigh.
  8. To be fair there was talk that he actually had some training, I remember there being some talk yesterday he'd had some military experience. Which could explain why he was quite so ruthless with the firearms. Saying that, lone wolf terrorists are a rarity so if he was aided somehow (planning, logistics even) it wouldn't be surprising.
  9. It's certainly the front page of the copy that was in our house yesterday.
  10. 'everything you've ever learned in boxing. Chuck it at him' Might want to start with some more punches
  11. Chindie your 34 years and 9 months old aren't you? . Hes an old looking 23 for sure. Hard life boxing I guess. Chisora woke up.
  12. Not just boxing here, a comedy farce too! I've never seen 2 fighters have a chat in the middle of a round and taunt one another like that.
  13. Fury is apparently only about 3 months older than me, but looks like hes 35. Chisora looks ****, hes blowing hard.
  14. He was attacking the Norwegian Labour Party.
  15. Maximum basic custodial sentence in Norway is 21 years. You can serve more (in 5 year increments) if you're found to still be a danger to society when you become eligible for parole.
  16. Lone wolf terrorists are very rare. It's curious watching the coverage of this try to connect the modern terrorist narrative - I was watching BBC News 24 a moment ago and the presenter/reporter/whatever was less interested in the event so much as he was to ask every guest about the state of race relations in Norway (to which he may as well have just said 'Norwegians hate Muslims and this is a reaction to the Muslim terror threat') and trying to make out that Norway was in some way unique and that that was why 91 people are dead this morning.
  17. This bomb must have been enormous, or have been an explosive with a big pressure blast. The spread of damage to buildings seems to be over a huge area, there are windows blown out a hell of a way from where the blast seemed to be centred on. Incredibly lucky there's not more fatalities than have been so far confirmed.
  18. Haven't heard word of it being confirmed as a bombing yet (even the Beeb article there is careful to not say bombing). Luckily it appears not many have been injured and, if it is a bombing, that is very, very lucky indeed. EDIT - Now confirmed by Norwegian police, as expected. 2 deaths being reported.
  19. Chopper's probably a better film for a narrative than Bronson, purely because theres a better straight story to tell. I enjoyed Chopper just for the character and his story, Bronson is more of a spectacle out of it's desire to show 'Bronson' as a kind of unchained beast and character rather than just a violent man.
  20. Ive never liked the entire final act of Fight Club. Once the Project Mayhem stuff takes the scene my eyes glaze over. Great film still mind. Did you spot Meatloaf's trousers fall down Mike? Happens as they run away from the restaurant in tuxedos.
  21. ...I don't like Bane. But thats Nolan's take. No luchador mask obviously, for the better I guess, but still... just looks dumb.
  22. Oh, just to polish off the Whelan hate explanation, last year, he did this. Tosser
  23. Guess I should clarify 2 things before stating why I think he's an arse. First, I've no problem with him asking whatever he likes for N'Zogbia, it's his job. If he's gone back on his word then thats just another slight on his character but otherwise, no bother. Second, I genuinely don't like many other clubs, players, managers, owners, etc outside of Villa Park, but Wigan and Whelan I have particularly distaste for. Whelan is an arsehole. As BOF says, he's rather too keen to lick Manchester United's arse and fondle Fergie's balls. But I'd take it further, he's a little too keen to talk to the media at all. Owner's shouldn't be on the telly giving interviews or constantly in the pissing papers. With how often his tongue is up Salford's finest's fundament I surprised he's available so often for comment but he seemingly is. He's also a man who is a skinflint in the extreme. I remember a newspaper story a few years back that to save cash he was turning off the undersoil heating at Wigan between fixtures, which you don't do because it stops it working so well, which in turn lead to the pitch being even worse than it usually was in winter. And so on. He's a pointless self celebrating arse whose sole aim is keep a pointless club in the league, which year in year out, he somehow manages, by doing the only thing he knows how, which is flogging players. He may as well open up a business securing the work permits of players from countries you'd struggle to find on a map on flog them as soon as they get off the plane for all the difference it's worth. To really claw at my throat though, it's the apparent fact he views himself as bigger than Wigan. What he does isn't about Wigan, it's about him, or at least thats the impression I get whenever he reels his face from Fergies balls for 5 mins to talk about how great everything he touches is. Including Fergies balls.
