  1. I'm completely convinced Dead Island is going to be a turkey. My enthusiasm for the end of year line up has grown a lot from January. Forza 4 is a must (CE preordered ), Arkham City is also a day 1 purchase and again considering the CE, Skyrim is also a day 1 purchase. Halo Anniversary I'll probably pick up sooner or later, same for Deus Ex... And then you've got things like FIFA, which I'll get sooner or later, COD which I'll play eventually, and Battlefield which at the very least I'll give a crack. Oh and Assassins Creed, which while not a day 1 since I think the series is getting very, very tired very very quickly, will also end up being played. Will be very thankful for staff discount over the coming months.
  2. I really wanted to like Bastion, what with GiantBomb raving over it (must admit I also had a cynical edge to thoughts on that similar to yours Rev on it being made by a buddy of theirs, so to speak), and looking right up my alley and beautiful. I downloaded the demo on XBLA and well... I dunno what it was but it didn't click. I actually still want to like it, so I get tempted to just buy it anyway, but I worry that I won't grow to genuinely like it.
  3. Massively. I was sold the moment the cover of Immigrant Song (Karen O and Trent Reznor, fantastic) started, absolutely dripping in atmosphere. I've not seen the originals either, though I understand that the first is superb, if grim, and the sequels were more like TV movies. At the very least, Fincher will make a hugey watchable film.
  4. I love that skit. I believe thats the 4th time I've linked that on here.
  5. I'm not the market for this because MMORPGs do absolutely nothing for me and I'm not a Star Wars nut, but that was pretty much my reaction whenever I've seen clips of it. It's WoW, with Jedis. A lot of the talk I've seen of people that have played it has been lacking a little enthusiasm for it too.
  6. Finally watched Black Swan last night. A mate had described it as 'Just...tense. All the time, tense'. And he weren't kidding.
  7. Getting unexpected freebies. Just got home to find a big white box with my name on it. Had a big presentation box of Windows branded stuff - pen in a gift box, notepad, lanyards, USB stick, laptop sleeve, laptop/messenger bag. Totally unexpected and, despite pretty much being tat, kinda cool. Thanks Microsoft!
  8. Probably the best place to ask this. Skyrims appearance on the release horizon has inspired me to go back and completely polish off Oblivion on the 360. Talking about this at work my boss has said he'll lend me his GOTY edition, since I've never tried Shivering Isles and the like. My question is will the GOTY edition carry over my save, and will it be possible to install the GOTY content (ala Forza 3's content disc) to run it after I hand back the disc and return to the normal edition? The latter is ambitious I suspect but I've heard conflicting stuff.
  9. YES. I do expect this to be the weakest of Nolan's Batman films, if I'm honest. I just don't see Bane carrying the weight, and even if it, as I expect, becomes a film far more about Batman than TDK, I don't see it being the revelation that Batman Begins was either. Hope I'm wrong though, and I'm sure that on release it'll see beat out a lot of the shit that gets released these days. Anywho... More spoilerific revelations, I did wonder when might turn up in Nolans universe. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5rWw9Ls6vZg.
  10. Theres 2 Barebones options, one jumps between FFA and TDM, the other mixes up the objective games like Domination. I stick to the FFA and TDM when I play, I really do enjoy the straight gun fights you get without killstreaks, and I say that as a player who remains shit and has never put that much time into COD multi.
  11. I wouldn't from a point of fairness with COD. It's an inherently unfair game. The perks/unlock progression is geared towards giving better/more active players more and better equipment (and thusly more choice in gameplay styles, and so on). Camping is just a tactic, same as running round like a loon shooting anything that moves. It might be annoying, but other people will find other play styles annoying. To be honest the only thing that ever got my ire in the COD multiplayer seriously was quickscoping, which is effectively using an exploit in the game design to succeed, which isn't cool in my book. It's one thing Black Ops nailed. I agree on barebones though - I still sometimes spark up MW2 and I find barebones to be fair more fun than any other variant.
  12. Never quite got the hating of campers in COD. By most accounts the moment they're rumbled they're ****. It's just another tactic, arguably not a great one in many game modes.
  13. Arkham Asylum, the first game Dem is talking about, is out and has been for a fair old while. Its a great game and cheap now. The sequel, Arkham City, is out in October and looks very good indeed as the stuff in this thread attests.
  14. I find it just makes it easier to distance myself from getting too worried about on the pitch side of things now. I look on the main forum and think '...it ain't really worth it'.
  15. Called a draw. Performance left a considerable amount to be desired.
  16. Draw. Just hoping it's not a backs to the wall style one.
  17. My tutor at uni was Dr. Death. He looked a bit like Tom Hardy, which somehow seemed appropriate, intense and a bit of a bastard.
  18. On a similar note, my brother had a teacher at school called Ms. Coal. She got married one summer and returned to inform everyone she was now Mrs. Burns.
  19. Only a few weeks away and the first release to usher in a ker-azy end to the year for big releases (October/November is madness for big releases) and my original cynicism to this has washed away and I'm quite looking forward to it. PC Gamer reviewed it, scoring it in the 90s and couldn't praise it enough. The preview build that has been leaked and available for a few months is apparently superb. Could be well worth a purchase, and may be a must buy for fans of the series.
  20. Same as Rev for me. It'll be a season long tussle with Arsenal for that spot. Arsenal will be undoubtedly weakened, but I suspect Wenger will surprise people by just how strong his side remains (even if they do falter a few times and never look like threatening for anything). I also suspect that Liverpool won't have things all to their liking and will wobble. Saying that I also do expect Suarez to become everyones favourite player to hate this season through a combination of superb skill and being a dirty cheating little ****, which will reap points left right and centre for Liverpool.
  21. Only 1 player has played football professionally on every inhabited continent, a German goalkeeper called Lutz Pfannenstiel.
  22. Limited Editions in Gamestation if they don't sell go through the floor if you're prepared to wait a little and gamble on missing out entirely. We sold a Signature Edition GT5 a couple of months after release for £25 that had just sat around.
  23. Its an Alien prequel. The entire (alleged) plot has leaked online, and being honest with you, it sounds shifty. It does focus on the Space Jockey story but there are shots of some quite familiar eggs that have leaked from ComicCon...
