  1. Having to explain to customer, over the phone, after the fact, that our 'Won't Be Beaten on Trade-ins!' offer, is not a caveat free offer of charity, since we're a business. She couldn't understand that we couldn't give her £10 for something we sell for £8, even if a competitor would offer the £10. And she decided to ring up to question this after having gone through with the transaction having had this explained to her at the till the day before!.
  2. We had a quote for them recently. Big initial outlay. They make a big deal out of the government giving you a sum for any power you are able to export, IIRC. However, the government is increasingly trying to cut/ditch that policy and recently went to court over it (and lost). It also, unsurprisingly, depends massively on the size and orientation of your roof. The bloke we had out was able to do a cost/saving calculation based on our rough size and orientation, effectively settling us into the 'average' level of potential savings using 2 aspects of our roof. I wasn't that convinced, especially given the cost, but if you had the money and didn't mind spending it, and planned on sticking around in that house, it might make sense.
  3. You can get the best ending via single player alone, you just have to do pretty much everything.
  4. Any water is poisonous if over consumed, pure or not. It causes brain swelling thanks to osmosis caused by a water imbalance in the body, basically.
  5. Aaaaah but water isn't unquestionably safe either... Its poisonous if large quantities are consumed (and not the unfeasibly large quantities these cancer experiments use) and contains fluoride which many people will tell you allegedly has the side effect of creating docility, cancer, retardation, and Alzheimers, amongst other things.
  6. It uses extract, no cocaine content at all now. One of my mates' uncle works for them. They apparently have a huge problem with pubs and restaurants not mixing it properly, which they then give them shit for.
  7. No it doesn't. No. And thats even when we know that it can seriously harm some people, because of a chemical it creates as it is digested that a few people cannot process. It doesn't, however, cause cancer. Me neither... squash FTW. And yes.. they did, its where the "Coca" bit in the name comes from. Not quite. The 'Coca' part of the name comes from one of the ingredients, coca leaf, which is indeed also what cocaine is derived from. However to produce cocaine you have to process it. Coca Cola used to have what amounted to 'trace' elements of cocaine in it - they used the same leaves that cocaine was made from, but they didn't intentionally add cocaine to it. They later used the leaves that had already been used, leaving trace elements of cocaine in it again. Now they use extract. It was originally sold as a medicine, funnily enough, since to this day people still claim it cures headaches.
  8. Pirates of the Caribbean 3 is believed to be most expensive movie ever made, at $300m, not inflation adjusted. The rule of thumb for needing to take double to make money is down to the ongoing cost of a film, marketing it, distributing it, even things as simple as straight up paying for it all add to costs not necessarily associated with the direct budget.
  9. No. The testing on it would see them spark it up and try to play a game, after checking warranty seals and the like, and the hard drive size. If it wouldn't play it immediately, they wouldn't take it in.
  10. Yes, I know. I was attempting to discourage the idea for other people.
  11. Worth bearing in mind that the multiplayer can contribute to how good of an ending you get. Anywho had my copy from Tescos arrive today, will get some time in later. I also only had to tell 6 people during my shift that we weren't stocking it. Could have been worse.
  12. Yeah, but even my dog knows you're wrong about the aspertame, and he's been dead for donkeys years (I actually don't think there will be much of a difference between this test and the laughable one that aspertame worriers laud as proof, except I'll give the benefit of the doubt to this lot and assume their science isn't so bad that they'd create variables by allowing the test subjects to live to natural death. You never know though...).
  13. Yes, preowned. Most stores will have decent stock levels. I work in a small store and I'd be surprised to see us completely sell out of that stock, particularly the newer stuff. Older PS3s and old model 360s are thin on the ground though. Quite a few 'newer' models tend to be in pretty good nick, sometimes even brand new (people get them with phone contracts and get shot of them), so you may get what might genuinely be considered a bargain.
  14. Everything is dangerous to some degree or other. That this experiment required rodents to be given enough of a chemical to put down a herd of T-Rexs gives you all the information you need to know about this. It's no different to the aspertame rubbish.
  15. ...should just about finish her innings if the way he manages a football team has any bearing on how he manages a cuppa and a chat.
  16. We're a lot alike. Please, don't do that. It'll just immediately make you look like a prick. It's not the sales assistants fault and doesn't deserve the piss taking.
  17. Yes? 'Spring Clean' sale is on, basically everything in preowned has had a price drop of some sort, some have dropped to silly prices others have small discounts. The decent game stock has had a lot of the great bargains gone already. Hardware sale went live today, preowned hardware across the board has dropped, some nice prices. You can get a 250gb Xbox S for £130 now. PS3 Slims start at £130 going upto £150 for 320gb ones. Handhelds, Vita aside, have also dropped to enticing prices. Some new game stock has small discounts, but not much.
  18. Are you kidding?! It looks awful. Disney have, in the last 2 weeks, publically released about 15 minutes of the film for people to watch, including one release just the other day of a whole 10 minute segment. They know they've got a potential enormous flop on their hands and are desperately trying to get people interested in watching it. Even people that have liked the film have basically said it's riddled with problems, from terrible plotting to awful dialogue and worse acting. Given that it's rumoured to have cost $250m, and that the rule of thumb with box office returns is that to make money, you need to take twice your budget, they've got reason to be worried.
  19. I think it's mainly a reaction to the fact that the game allegedly does a lot of things that are going to really piss off the people who loved the series thus far.

    Stewart Lee

Superb comedian. Had a link to his railing against the anti-political correctness agenda as my sig for about 3 years. His crack at Richard Littlejohns rage at the media not referring to the women killed in Ipswich a few years back as dead prostitutes is superb, classic Stewart Lee. The 'punchline' is succinctly brutal, follows a long pause, and absolutely nails the point.
  21. The few times I saw him for Lille he was like a cut price Essien.
  22. Will not be competing in Europe next year.
  23. We had the hardback guides for this come in last week in our store. You could kill someone with it. It's enormous.
