  1. Watched it this week. Thought it was pretty poor, TBH. Good idea for an Alien prequel, but in many ways a wasted opportunity. Sure, the SFX were OK, but how many times can they get away with the old "alien in the stomach" thing? Crappy script, ill-thought-out plot, poor acting, saved a little by the female lead (don't know her name). And the setup for the next one at the end sounds ominous. Let it go, Ridley. Interestingly enough it shares a writer with ST: ID and suffers with similar issues IMO - loads of it doesn't make great deals of sense. Lindelhof is a cancer to movie making.
  2. £300 for 3 nights in Warwick. I don't stay in hotels often (ever) but... ouch.
  3. Bravo, Moon Man. Although, playing devil's advocate here, before Britain's declaration of war against Germany, the conflict was centred around a small but highly populated corner of Asia, hence from that perspective it was not a World War (yet) Meaning it only became one in 1939 By that logic though, WWI was not a World War. No, the Great War had theatres world wide pretty much from the get go. Africa, Asia and the Pacific... Even if that want the case it was arguably a global war as a war of empires that saw people drawn from across the globe to fight for the committal powers.
  4. RE6 is roundly considered woeful, so I'd expect not. MGR is an acquired taste, same guys who made bayonetta and similar gameplay which definitely isn't for everyone.
  5. The bus I'm on just changed to a completely different route to the one i should be on. Like, going from a route that gets me home, to a route that doesn't. Wtf.
  6. Another cracking episode of Game of Thrones.
  7. PSN is largely only free because they needed to get one over Microsoft who dominated the console online section, IMO. It was basically a box ticking exercise in how to be better than Microsoft could offer.
  8. Annoyingly, with Mancini gone they're only likely to improve - he was never a particularly good manager and had shown it more often than not as Citeh manager.
  9. I also just saw Star Trek. Genuinely don't know what to make of it. Very Abrams/Lindelof though, unsurprisingly.
  10. Moyes would be an obscene gamble. In a way it's one I hope they make.
  11. I swear that fat prick Green on 5Live just said that. In other Green related news, he had the gall the other night to constantly refer to Anderson being fat. 'Passed to Anderson, who could lose a pound or 2...'. 'And it's Anderson, who's carrying a bit of weight' 'Passed to the rotund Anderson'.
  12. The clothes are the same as worn by that character for a well known moment in her arc.
  13. The picture hints very heavily at a plot point that'll be familiar to comic fans.
  14. Still a cracking episode again, perhaps a slight gear change down but still incredible. Also thought this quote summed up GoT pretty well: I was never interested in reading the books but after a couple of mates read them all I bought the lot at Christmas. I'm really struggling though, I've not even got off Game of Thrones yet. I don't find them terribly engagingly written, and couple that to just not finding myself with the desire to read much anymore leaves them sat on my shelf looking forlorn.
  15. http://i.imgur.com/Dp6w0nf.jpg'>On set shot from Amazing Spiderman 2, that may well be significant despite appearances... potentially spoiler-y
  16. I'm firmly in the **** off Wigan camp. Utterly pointless club. But if they must survive again, Newcastle are a close second. Anywho Wigan are bound to win tonight, Swansea are already on the beach.
  17. Occam's razor, nobody had any idea who Jimmy McAlpine was. Even when the other McAlpine was implicated, the story struggled for popular reaction (even before he got litigious), whereas Savile is a well known face whose story tied into other controversies with the Beeb. You could argue that that also ties into the continuing 70s celeb names cropping up. The police are looking at the peers of Savile and finding and being given information relating to them. Whereas the politicians haven't got the reek of it on them yet.
  18. It took 16 minutes between turning on my PC at work this morning and being able to open an email in Outlook. I think I've got a legitimate case for having a new PC at work. IT disagrees
  19. Another good episode of Game of Thrones this week although I'm going to enjoy it just a little less from now on. Still a cracking episode again, perhaps a slight gear change down but still incredible.

    Do you read?

I'm just finishing Blood Meridian. What a writer. I expect to be haunted by images such as buzzards eating a dead baby for a long time. I started reading Blood Meridian a couple of years ago, still got it on my shelf. I hate McCarthy's style so much it pains me to read it. I just about dragged myself through No Country but as much as I've heard Blood Meridian is fantastic, I got about 100 pages in and gave up on it.
  21. Oooh I love this game! If you want to be bombed by an Irish republican, vote Tory! ...wheres that face palm pic? We might need a few.
  22. There's quite a few bits floating around. Iron man is better on second viewing. Still has issues but massively enjoyable, on a second viewing the fanboy in me is less disappointed as the (arguably cheap) trick it plays is less galling.
