  1. I must admit, i've never been as angry at a Villa manager as I was after the european debacle. While I've mellowed a bit toward him, and in general I do remember that time fondly, I will always be at least moderately narked off about that.
  2. I would imagine we'll have most likely given up hope in getting much return for him, under the circumstances. Another loan might make sense, though. See if he can recapture form. Either way, hope he can benefit you guys.

Sounds like it's a crap boiler if it needs a Faraday cage to work.

How the hell does that happen?
  6. It's not ironic. I'm not absolving our colonial history, or involvement in interventionism. I am just as critical and embarrassed by our own actions. But we were talking about the withdrawal of support for the war in Ukraine by a certain portion of the US public (rhyming with Bepublicans). As far as I can tell that has not, and is unlikely to happen in the UK.
  7. The 'forever wars' that they caused by the destabilising influence of an interventionist policy going back decades on both sides of the divide? Let's not forget that the 'War on Terror' was initiated by Bush, was not discriminatory, and left a huge power vacuum in the Middle East. Russia has been set up as the 'old enemy', primed by the States through a legacy of Cold War and unilateral confrontation, because it suited their Ideals. I'm not saying necessarily that the interventionist policies of the post war period in the US were wrong as such, although a case against them could be pursued. And i'm certainly not excusing Russia for their warmongering skullduggery. What i'm saying is- clean up your shit when you leave a mess. Don't get bored half-way through cleaning up and make the rest of us deal with it. It's like my kids when they leave s*** all over the the living room floor. Suddenly they seem to have an overwhelming desire to go and play in their rooms.
  8. I think everyone here wants him to find a place where he can resurrect his career, and I hope that's with you guys. I think he'd be more open to a move than you suggest. There's nothing about his rise as a footballer that would suggest to me that he'd be content with turning up and taking a wage.
  9. Well if Barca think we are 'set to break our transfer record' for Johnson, it won't help our negotiation for Torres. Mundo Deportivo (insert source reputation comment here) reckon a loan to buy for £20M is do-able for Torres, but I guess they will up that instantly to £34.5M when they realise we'd pay at least that for Johnson.
  10. Exactly. I don't doubt we'd be interested, as he's a good young prospect. But he's not really proven enough yet imo to justify £40+M, and assuming Forest reply to our interest (or that of anyone else really) with that kind of fee, I would guess that most if not all suiters would be, like, 'ah, fair enough then, we'll see what he's like in a couple of years'. The point of getting young talent is to get potential cheaply (albeit with risk). If it aint cheap, what's the point. For 40M you could get a good proven international from Europe. I will be honest whenever I saw Forest last season, Gibbs-White was always the standout.
  11. Second. Get the right one in, and we're looking a side.
  12. I mean, he's a decent player, but I don't think anyone is going to 'smash transfer records' to get him.
  13. I see that the main opposition to the war is still that it didn't work, not that it was wrong, then? Rancid country.
  14. I just bought a playstation flavoured 'Backbone' for android, so I can use my phone as a portable device to play PS5 on the go, with proper controller input. I will report back on how good it is when it arrives.
  15. Not appreciably, we're pushing for entry into the top 4, and we had the 8th highest wage bill last year (75M), that's less than half the wage bill of the top 4 teams. Our revenue was on the lower side at 169M, which is the 8th lowest in the Prem. At the end of the day to compete on the field we need to pay big boy wages. The main issue with the equation seems to be our below average revenue, which obviously needs to come up drastically. Enter our new marketing team. The alternative is to keep the low revenue, low wages model which might get us winning over a season or two, but in the long term will hinder us. Brighton and Brentford are anomalies, and will also need to grapple with this going forward. You can't rely on unearthing prodigious talent for peanuts every year. That won't work forever.
  16. Don't see why we have to sell. Someone worked out a few pages back that We're still well under our FFP cap, we've got most of our recent targets for peanuts, and our owners are loaded.
  17. Good call. I always hated babysick blue (I ate lots of haribo as a child).
  18. Also, do we think the new one is sort of trying to be an update of number 7?
  19. I probably should have prefaced this by saying that I am a little bit colour blind, so I'm not sure how that affects certain shades, but probably not much, as I have always been that way, so will have grown up with it. See your point on 4, and just included it cos it's darker. Happy to drop that one.
  20. Numbering left to right, top to bottom, my favoured colours would be 2, 4, 6, 8 and because it was my first ever shirt, 9. I like the darker reds typically.
  21. I think that's been my biggest problem with the new kit, really, although I appreciate that colours can vary in photos. Look at the masthead on this site. Then look at the kit. The kit looks way too 'red' to me. Almost Arsenal red. Luke kit was great imo as it dropped us a few shades darker, which is where we should be imo.
  22. If that's what he thinks, he's so far up his own arse it's unreal.
