  1. I think one of the main reasons we are all a bit reticent to get a second striker who can compete with Ollie, is that when we did that last time with Ings, Ollie's form dropped off a cliff. Tricky really, as it's prudent to have at least two decent options per position, but Ollie needs to know that he's the main man.
  2. It always astonishes me how we'll smash Man City and win god knows how many on the bounce and dismiss it all, then have a dodgy performance (without even losing) and ruminate on it for decades. We'll say 'how bad was that we should have won, they are bottom' 400 times, but not take any comfort from 'Man City are recent treble winners, with one of the best assembled teams of all time and we just humbled them'. Maybe comment in passing. I think it's a British thing. I'm as guilty as anyone. I notice when I go abroad that there seems much less sarcastic pessimism.
  3. Watching Man U in this game will be like watching Tom Daley in the olympics. If Tom Daley was a massive nob end. And I don't have any reason to believe that he is, it's all hypotheticals here.
  4. Reading most of the comments in the press this morning, there is a lot of relief, and condescension. Plucky little Villa did well, but they'll drop off now and finish 5th like good boys. All of our teams are safe guys. Business as usual. For some reason us doing well TERRIFIES the media.
  5. Watching his goal it looked like one of Savo's. The way he jumps but keeps his body vertical. For a second I was back in 1996. I loved Savo, and I have a real soft spot for Zaniolo. Proper pleased for him.
  6. The crazy thing was his specialist subject was 'Troy Deeney'.
  7. Congratulations to Man City for winning a competition I've never heard of, against a team I thought had been disbanded in the 1980's. Epic times!
  8. That's the lineup I was expecting and hoping for.
  9. This will be a physical battle like Brentford, I reckon.
  10. The only place I'd like Cash playing today is right back. I just don't like him further forward. He plays the wing position like a fullback. If we need a wide player it has to be Bailey on with Diaby at inside forward. Tbh Bailey has more than deserved a run in the side.
  11. I agree, people have been talking about how a round badge makes us look like other clubs, but the lamp is unique. Changes the profile of the circle, and provides a focal point. You know after sleeping on it I think this is the best badge design, including the official ones, that I've ever seen.
  12. If this goes ahead, football is finished. Those that go will contribute to a league of fake competition. Those that don't will be left in a competition whose value has been compromised. Remember when the FA Cup and League Cup meant something? The domestic league would be like those competitions in 5 years.
  13. I wouldn't worry. The closest a blues fan has come to getting into Birmingham City University is buying a car air freshener at the Tesco Petrol Station on the A4540. One tried to apply to the Open University once. They said for him they'd make an exception and close it.
  14. It's the eternal struggle isn't it. It's in the nature of business (and football is a business) to want to monopolise and dominate competition. It's in the nature of regulation to stop that. Businesses hate regulation, but when there is no regulation, business eats itself.
  15. And this is the key. This whole thing has come about because of a series of entitled super clubs have forgotten how to lose with grace, and think they should be immune from failure. There is no way whatsoever that, regardless of what A22 say, they will allow a free exchange of clubs between the super league and the footballing pyramids of the respective countries. They would use the veil of 'minimum ground capacity' or 'minimum turnover' as a barrier to real sporting competition.
  16. These people have a definition of fair that is incompatible with professional sport.
  17. 'Fans to watch matches for free on new streaming platform'. For free. Anyone believing that load of old horse jazz deserves everything they get when their 7 day trial elapses and they are locked for 2 years in a 500 quid a month contract.
  18. With Pau out, I'd be tempted to get Lenglet in. He's looked tidy when I've seen him.
  19. Arsenal are competitors now. We shouldn't be selling anyone to them.
  20. Yeah, I know. I was just trying to make it make sense.
  21. The other possibility is that he's using the soft release as a tool to get fan response to steer their development programme?
  22. Is this weird? I had a single's worth of Mount Gay Rum, and a double's Lamb's Navy rum left in the house and I've whacked them together and necked them. I reckon that's a cocktail. I'm calling it the Gay Shepherd.
  23. Whilst I see your point isn't the instant reaction sort of the point of marketing? People aren't going to sit down and cogitate over our logo with a glass of brandy.
