  1. Would it not have made sense, then, to defer the Everton punishment on this basis? As others have said, in the time until action is taken (assuming it will be) against City, at the time of the original judgement it could well have been that Everton ended up in the Championship for 3 years, whilst Man City get to win the treble for the next 3 years in a row. Now it looks like Everton will stay up, but the authorities would not have known that at the time. Again, I know nothing about the legal practice, and there may well be a good reason for all of this, but it's not a very good optic for the Premier League to allow the record books to be updated with wins for a team we all know cheated. That alone seems in my eyes to suggest a lesser or negligible punishment for City is more likely as the PL try to save face next year.
  2. As a layman in terms of legal mcgubbins is this more or less complex than Everton? Seems from the outside a trifle unfair that the punishment for Everton be effectively expedited because they didn't cheat in a complex enough way. I think regardless of whether it's due process, fair or otherwise, to see supposedly 'lower' clubs punished in the short term when Man (115 counts) City don't have any visible sanction, is going to p*** off the supporters of every other team in the pyramid.
  3. He's so important to our transition. No one we (or most other teams) have can play it out of the back like him.
  4. (Sorry, no offence, I just couldn't help it.)
  5. Good Times, man. Apparently Savo had a 60% win ratio as manager of Partisan. I have no idea if that's any good in the context of that league, but it sounds OK.
  6. Savoooooooooooo! Anyway the media loved calling him that but he left us with a 1 in 3 goalscoring record (0.32) which is distinctly not shit. For comparison Ollie's record with us is 0.37. Savo the cat did have an ironic dribbling problem, however. He would sit on you in bed and dribble on your face. It was gross.
  7. Ooooh. I still remember the last guy we signed from a club in Belgrade. A man so legendary my wife's cat was named after him.
  8. I agree that this is how marketing people think, but the more I think about it the more I disagree with the approach. The long term fans seem to be considered irrelevant, but marketing can't manufacture, it can only sell. The product it sells is based on an identity, and ultimately it is the hard core fans that give the club that identity. If you ignore the history, and long term identity of a club, you get Man City. You get junk food. Man City is so devoid of personality- the stadium, the heritage, that it has to rely on the personality of Pep to keep it going. As soon as he goes and they lose a few games, no marketing on earth will save them from an enormous revenue crash. And then what. Oh yeah, please save us hard-core fans. We've ignored you for years, but now we need you. That's not how long term growth is achieved. You need to engage with worldwide audiences while also looking after your base. Emery gets it big time, and from a playing perspective it's what he's laboured to do from the first minute he was hired.
  9. Gonna miss ya Bertie. If his career choices are anything like his playing style, his next move will either involve setting fire to his own fruit and veg cart on Corporation Street, or becoming supreme ruler of the universe. And whichever it is, everyone will like him for it.
  10. Good man, yourself, but unfortunately no other bloody bugger seems to accept the FFP rules.
  11. As I mentioned in a later post, it's because we've played 10 more games this year than at the same time last year with the same number of players. The number of points achieved has no bearing on the effect of match load on fitness in the long term. And as an aside, it drives me mad that a certain section of the forum shoot down any constructive concerns (note-not criticisms, this isn't the match thread) that might lead to a practical solution as 'chicken little', 'doomsaying' or equivalent. Being prepared to solve challenges means not dismissing any and all signs of issues that can be solved before they become problems. In this case by ensuring adequate squad depth if, and only if we have the opportunity to do so.
  12. I should say I'm not necessarily advocating that we go out and spend big this window if overall value is poor, but I suspect we may end up reassessing short term objectives later in the season. Again not necessarily a bad thing if we are looking at long term success. Success has just all happened so quickly that I wonder if the squad is just a little undercooked to bring it home. Hope I'm wrong, mind.
  13. Not sure I follow this, between now and mid feb we have 4 PL games (5 if you count the one on the 17th as 'mid feb') and an FA cup game (two if there is a replay- as I understand it 4th round this year has them). We'd played the same number of games by 6th Jan this season that we had on the 12 March last season. By 11th Feb (assuming no Chelsea replay), we will have played the same number of games as we had by the 22nd April last season. And then we get some additional European games, and hopefully an FA cup run on top. Last season we had 21 players who'd played more than 5 games, this year to date it is exactly the same number 21. For context Arsenal last year had 25 players with more than 5 games, Chelsea had used 30. I think assuming we're not going to get fatigued is wishful thinking.
  14. M'lud may I draw your attention to the Burnley game, where they were obviously blowing out of their arse. More games should fix that, though, you are right.
  15. We need some strength in depth. The first team is gonna be blowing out of their arse by mid Feb.
  16. Quite fancy Hardspace. Session is pretty good, I've played that. Surviving the aftermath was a bit disappointing after Surviving Mars. I can't stand Frostpunk. It should be right up my alley but after I spent 8 hours building a colony only to have a drop in temp kill 3/4 of my people I rage quit and vowed never to play it again. Played a bit of shadow tactics on pc and it seemed decent so might have a go at that. Never played RE2. Is it a remaster then? Don't think I've played a RE game since PS1.
  17. Didn't Bullard effectively torpedo his career by taking the piss out of him? Or it may have been results, I must admit I didn't follow him that closely.
  18. I'd not heard that. Is that true? If so I take it back.
  19. I saw plenty to suggest he was a terrible manager. Not sure I saw much to indicate he was a terrible person. Glad he left, but would never wish him any ill will.
  20. Mate who is Arsenal reckons they are getting Frimpong.
  21. Big thing in Aussie Rules Football as I recall. Their indigenous kits are next level awesome.
  22. So I take it we have Nas to thank for this, being a shareholder?
  23. Me too. Looking forward to this if they can sort out the badge issue.
  24. So Trump is going with an immunity defence. I'm sure I've heard the words 'if the President does it, it's not illegal' somewhere before
