I think a lot of people are underestimating the quality of the Premier league. I think the team above is capable of survival, depending on how prolific Wesley turns out to be. That’s a big if for me, and we need at least another competent if not earth shattering striker. Plus imagine if Phillips got injured and was out for a couple of months. No capable backup (Thor nowhere near a prem level DM imo), and we might want/need to play a more defensive formation with 2DMs against the better teams in the league to get the odd draw/win here or there that will mean the difference between survival and relegation. All in all, massive investment needed here even if we could field the team above. Which we can’t. Backroom team need to get their game faces on over the next few weeks. Big, big fortnight coming up.

I’ve said it before, but if there is resale value at or in excess of what we pay, then discussing transfer fees, however much they might be is entirely irrelevant. Simple really. Investment. Chucking money at a talented 32 y/o on the downside of their career arc IS worth shouting down, but there is absolutely no way whatsoever that the current owners/DS will do this.

Ok, assuming they want/need £20M for Ty, is it worth trying to get value added? Are there any Bournemouth fringe players worth tacking onto a deal? Personally the overall transfer fee seems to me to matter less than the wage costs, as that is the bit we’re on the hook for over the next 3 years or whatever. Either way, let’s get it done folks. Ty wants in, we want him in. No brainer.

Weird thing is that I don’t normally like it. I hated the spurs kit from last year, but for some reason I like that third strip. Maybe it’s the black/blue thing.

Must admit that whilst I get that people are worried about getting value for money, i’m starting to get a little concerned about whether we’re actually gonna be able to field a defence next year. I know there is still plenty of time left, but our squad still needs a hell of a lot of work, and I did think we would have seen a couple more bodies in. We’re still nowhere near where we were last year.

Yeah, agreed. Honestly though, I think Mings would be the most important business we do this summer. On this one occasion I’m not too fussed if we pay over the odds. He was fundamental to our success and to bringing us as fans together and behind the team last year.
