    I can see where TRO is coming from. My own thought when JT left citing that ‘he didn’t want to start the season and not finish it’ was that he might have known of something happening behind the scenes which might undermine our success this season, and by bowing out now he would keep his stock high. At the time I was thinking maybe he knew that we weren’t doing any more transfer business. Either way it’s unusual to not have another job lined up.

    We need to show ambition here. Losing Jack would be disastrous, not because he’s irreplaceable, but because it will send the message to quality signings that we’re small time. Offer him the farm. It’s vital we keep him for the next phase, or it will set us back years.

    You got the first bit right. It is about clicks. All about clicks. Don’t buy the ‘strengthen City, undermine Villa’ thing though. Why would they care? It would be a massive transfer and generate loads of clicks. Full stop. It could be the transfer of anyone to anywhere, as long as it generates revenue.
