To me he is an all round CM. Trouble is that hardly any of the modern systems have room for a player like that. It’s more specialised.
In the old days we used to have players like that. I’m thinking Townsend or Draper, but these days they would not be creative enough for an attacking role, or defensive enough to be a 6. Closest would be an 8, but when you have McGinn and Sanson vying for that place, it’s tough to find his USP.
He’ll have a personal training schedule, definitely. Can’t replace proper training, and he’ll probably be a bit ring rusty, but I doubt he’ll be that far off the pace.
Fair point. Just hope it’s enough. It just feels light in DM for me. Did all last year, and it was the one position where I felt that an upgrade was critical.
As good as Emi is, that last stat should be ringing alarm bells. Our defence needs better protection. We have to get that number down if we want to move on.
