100% He was to be the catalyst to take us to the next level. I genuinely think that if he’d stayed fit we would be where Chelsea and Arsenal are now (in terms of stature in the game).

Honestly I think the only difference between the two statements is perspective.

You know what, given the really terrible pre-season we’ve had (thanks a bunch Jack). I’m not going to worry too much about targets and objectives this year. Just gonna see what happens. I expect a crap start then maybe october time things starting to come together. I expect a strong second half of the season, and maybe a mid table finish, to put us in a great position for a push next season.

As far as I can see you play a false nine when your wide inside forwards are better finishers than your central striker (mane and salah). We’ve got two strikers who are known for their finishing and goal poaching. Why would we want to take either of them further away from the goal in favour of getting our wide players, who are known for being able to pick up the ball deep, beating a man and/or threading a through ball, closer to the penalty area. With the personnel we have, playing a false nine is amongst the last things I would consider.

One thing I’d never really considered before making that list was that no. 8 for Angel was a bit weird.

So what are you thinking? Ings out wide? Bench? No way would he have signed for those prospects, which makes me think we have a way of playing him sussed out and have done for some time.

This is absolutely what I was thinking. Of the two Ings has to play up front. Watto could be a 10, a SS or out wide, but Ings in any one of those positions makes no sense. Most of the goals i’ve seen from Ings have been from 6-10yards. He’s a poacher.
