  1. I grew up in Cradley and went to Speedway every Saturday. Mostly packed every week, but an unscrupulous owner sold the stadium. Anyway when Sky took on Speedway I thought at the time that the money and attention would be good for the sport. Nah killed it entirely. Ditto boxing. I’m Into formula 1. You need to kick in some serious wedge to get anywhere near a live race. Seriously Sky is poison for sport. Gives the governing bodies everything they think they want (money, exposure) in exchange for everything they need (viewers).
  2. No it’s not. I’m a geoscientist who studied climate. It’s by some distance the most dangerous threat humanity has ever faced. But on another note….Morgan Sanson!!!!! Yay!!!!
  3. Can I just ask-why isn’t this easier to watch? Nothing kills a burgeoning sport quicker than ‘exclusive rights’.
  4. Can’t judge just on mistakes though. You can be a rubbish defender, not make any mistakes and concede 5 goals a game. Neither are rubbish by any means though.
  5. We tend to suggest poor positioning as a stick to beat Mings when we concede, but it’s worth pointing out that the limited protection our back line gets from midfield is one of the reasons Mings has to cover elsewhere.
  6. The key to United winning anything is not having/missing Maguire, it’s their midfield. Getting a tune out of Pogba is vital for them.
  7. Maguire made a big difference for England when he returned during the Euros. Composure when stepping out and playing the ball changed the way we played. Mings is good. Maguire is also very good.
  8. Copy and paste this post onto every first team player's thread.
  9. Do you mean Stephen Warnock? I don’t think aeroplanes had been invented when Neil Warnock was in contention for England.
  10. Yeah you are probably right. If he'd torn it up we would not have blinked at £6M. Now Drinkwater, I'm still not sure why the hell we brought him in.
  11. Sporttrac are saying Barkley was on 5M/yr in salary at Villa too, which is just under 100K/wk. £6M for a loan fee seems steep in any case.
  12. Shit. £11M. How the f**k did that happen? How much did we pay Chelsea? No way he was on 200K/wk
  13. I agree that we'd not get JL if he was wanting >100K
  14. He certainly works harder on the pitch than Barkley did. And in reality was the Barkley episode so disastrous? Yes he was rubbish, but we had him on loan and he went back, so no harm no foul. If we could give JL a similar 'loan trial', I would be absolutely fine with it. We can't lose really.
  15. Again, fair point. Was just trying to put everything in context.
  16. We would pay that if they think he's worth pursuing, 100%
  17. Fair point, but I would point out that Ings is on a reputed 120K/wk, almost double Watkins 70K, so we have form. Plus we are 11th in the salary table, so there is room for increase for the right player if needs be.
  18. He was great at West Ham. They’d love him back. He went to try and fight for a place at United, and then they signed Ronaldo. Bet he ends up and West Ham in Jan.
  19. Yep. Loan now with option to buy in Jan. He could do a job for us. edit- I was confusing EFL and Prem loan rules. Oops
