Seems to me the main problem with films about hooliganism, and to some degree racism and prejudice in general, is that they try to make sense of what is fundamentally senseless.
I get it, that's what films (and all types of art) are for, but in some cases it's not possible, because you are trying to find the thinking and motivation behind thoughtless and motiveless acts.
After the book which I read at least twice a year, I cannot watch the Martian.
Struggle to see how he can make the masterpieces you mentioned.
As an aside if you liked the Martian, you 100% need to read Project Hail Mary. Incredible book.
I enjoyed Artemis too, although I know some folk just can’t abide it.
Die hard 5 is probably in my top 3 worst films of all time, along with Congo, and the last 15 mins of AI.
And yeah, what’s up with Cusack. Loved some of his earlier stuff (Gross Point Blank is amazing), but now…
Well that was the issue before release wasn't it. If it didn't do well the second one might not have been made. Glad to see it do well. I think we all need a bit of epic escapism right now after the last couple of years.
Respectfully disagree on this. I think the new one sits just below Casino Royale (easily my favourite Bond movie, aside from Goldfinger) and Skyfall in the Craig era.
It's very different to others in terms of pacing (much slower), and even the character of Bond, who is also very deliberately different.
But I thought it was a nice arc. People change and so has he.
There were some silly moments which were not in keeping (bionic eyeballs!!?!) but otherwise I am glad I watched it.
Same here, although I did quite like the 80's version, in a Lynchian, mad as a box of frogs way!
Was disappointed to hear that the latest version is a two parter, mainly because it builds nicely toward the end.
What he’s really saying even if he doesn’t mean it is that half our games this season so far have been against top 6 opposition and we’re still 10th. Lets see where we are after we’ve played a representative subset of opposition.
Glad for him that he’s back and can get on with his career. He’s great at everything a striker does except scoring, which is obviously not ideal.
If i’m honest I don’t see him at Villa in the medium or even short term, but I sincerely hope he finds a place for himself at a Championship team where I think he can be effective.
Hope he kicks on and makes me eat those words.
