Deal length does not matter in the slightest. If he or we wanted out even before then it would not be an issue. We’ve hardly had to pay big to get him here.

He won’t be able to use tiki taka in the prem. At least for a long while. We won’t be technically superior to most teams in the league. But it is good to know that it is his preferred style, and goal to work toward.

I’ve reconciled myself to the fact that it will be Stevie G now. I still think it could be a massive car crash, but I desperately hope I’m wrong and i’ll be 100% behind him when he’s appointed.

To be fair this thread is almost as long as his career so far, so it will almost be a real time review.

Not that it's what I said at all, but you are right, you can't automatically say they are a better appointment. But the fact that they have done it in the past at a higher level means that there is more evidence that they are a better appointment, and less risk that they are not.

Sorry I just don't agree with this at all. Lack of experience in a decent league, Scottish, Danish, wherever is absolutely a perfectly justifiable, rational and unemotional reason to have doubts about Gerrard. Most of the european names mentioned and discussed on here have got good records at good european leagues.
