  1. What the hell is it with the defensive shit. You guys trolling for an argument or something? We were all talking about a tuesday presser over the weekend, I was merely asking after it. There is no need to go off on one. Silly bollocks? Up yours pal.
  2. The press conference. I'm happy with what I heard, but a formal press conference will be more in depth than a 12 minute video. Other than that, it was mentioned that it would be today, so I was wondering when it was.
  3. When is this formal bloody presser, then? Though it was due today. I'm sure they did not mean that little interview video.
  4. And I used to fancy the pants off his daughter, Andrea, throughout most of my formative years.
  5. Fun fact- Stan Boardman drove down to Wembley in the Villa coach to 'loosen up' the players before the 94 Cup Final.
  6. Haha, yeah. They were....let's be kind.....lacking attacking impetus.
  7. No, I think you are right in terms of wing back position. I'd definitely have him at CB. He's a unit. He probably played there against San Marino as we could afford it with their negligible attack, or to neutralise the outball to the flanks with his heading.
  8. Agreed, I watched the game, and he played how I love centre-backs to play. Pick it up deep bring it forward and initiate momentum. Nothing too flashy, just being a ball playing defender. Granted it was San Marino, and frankly I have no idea what formation we played (asymmetric 2-3-5?) as it was just a case of batter batter batter. Whatever is said about Maguire, I do love what he brings to the England squad. Until Mings started to do it last night, I've not seen any of the England CBs really step out of defence with the ball. They certainly didn't at the Euros, and Maguire changed us completely when he came back. If Mings can do that at villa without his usual brain-fart every now and again he will be a top, top player.
  9. Scousers have 5 accounts each cos they keep getting banned.
  10. I have been watching his England goals (still can’t quite bring myself to watch Liverpool yet), and he couldn’t half strike a ball.
  11. Have I missed the link of the AVFC website to the training video? I've seen the interview but must have missed the other.
  12. In fairness he is the exact same age as me, but considerably better looking and less battered by reality.
  13. That was a carefully put together interview. The questions were clearly assembled so as to address our concerns, which is the point tbh. This was not a presser for the wider football media, this was for us. To address those issues we've all been raising. And they did it very well I thought. Top marks to our PR guys, top marks to Stevo.
  14. I've just seen the interview, and he came across very well, I thought. He's a very serious individual, and I don't think we'll see many laughs from him in the near future, but he seems very driven and hungry. He also had quite an intimidating air about him I thought. He would kind of scare the shit out of me as a boss. I was quite surprised at this, as I never really got that sense from watching him play. Sure he got stuck in, but he did not seem all that intimidating a figure on the pitch. In addition, perhaps surprisingly, seemed to have a clear notion of what he wanted to implement, particularly defensively. All in all I can see why he would come across well during an interview, certainly.
  15. Agreed, but in fairness we have struggled to break teams down who are dug in for as long as I can remember. It would be nice to be able to do that.
  16. I'd offer El Ghazi in a swap deal for Kent. Would soften their blow, we'd get a useful attacker. Plus El Ghazi could do well north of the border. Everybody wins.
  17. The biggest thing for me is how he seems to delegate. For me it was the hardest thing to learn about management, and he seems to have that skill.
  18. The Meaning Evil in ‘interesting article’ shocker: https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/aston-villa-steven-gerrard-beale-22160497 Hope nobody has posted this, I checked the last few pages and could not see it. Some good quotes from Beale about management style, and organisation of backroom staff.
  19. That is nonsense. We have not been left in a mess. We have deficiencies sure, but we’re not a mess. Mad how you make excuses for managers you like, when you have been busting chops for the slightest thing for 2 years.
  20. I’m wary of Glens/Glenns after the last one. Quite like Kamaras though, Jeff
  21. Agreed. Doubt he would change too much for game 1. He’ll be assessing the team. Expect changes (if they occur) for the second game.
  22. He could give it back too! Bantz.
