Actually, tell you what was tacky. I rewatched the ‘94 cup final a while back, and the suits our players were given for wembley…Man U came out in (albeit quite hideous) designer gear, and we came out in cack suits from Ciro Citerio (think they were official sponsors at the time). Talk about head games.

In an ideal world I would like a Nike kit which paid homage to the '94 striped home kit. Although that's probably mainly for nostalgia purposes. I know the original '94 kit was asics, but I like Nike kits (I liked the material and embossing in their '96 kit), and I think Brighton's strip this year is a mile ahead of some of the other vomit inducing efforts knocking around.

Is it wrong that I do too? Make the red darker and I wouldn't be that unhappy tbh. And I don't think the background helps on that mock up.

Italy dominated because they are a brilliant side. Not saying we weren't set up defensively, but I thought he was great for the majority of the tournament. He showed Rice up in almost every game. Now Rice...he really struggled for me during the tournament as a whole. I don't think we played to his strengths, and I think he's also a very good player, but next to Phillips he looked indecisive and lacking aggression. I also think Phillips is absolutely perfectly suited to compliment this Villa side. I reckon we'd be right up there if we got Phillips. But we won't so it's immaterial I suppose.

Yeah I don't disagree about the standard of our signings. It's been an otherwise excellent window, but I do think that you may be clutching at straws a little bit in terms of the Coutinho argument, simply because this was an issue even before we lost Jack, and Jack was the epitome of ball retention. And unfortunately there are a fair few teams, who as you suggested was the case in the Man Utd game, can dominate possession. In those cases we struggle to win balls back. Luiz does a good job of intercepting the ball, but that's really only half of the job of a 6. We are kind of reliant on the opposition playing to our midfield strengths.
