    Most of the Ukraine resistance hinges on the fact that Russian forces are not the scary apocalyptic doom machine they are painted as. These videos, and Zelensky's videos where he is still in Kyiv, they are not for us in the west. Or at least they are only in partly for us. They are showing that the Russians are fallible, beatable. They are for the Ukraine Troops and citizens. It's why their resistance has been so formidable. I'd think twice before denouncing it as gloating, or of exultation.

    Yeah that did occur to me, but I can't see Russia stepping back without sanctions being lifted. They would be screwed no matter what they do, so they would pummel Ukraine to pieces hoping we would relent when casualties get too high.

    There are all kinds of theories about the 'big table', and why he has been so scared of covid. One is that he is very ill, and taking medication which makes him particularly vulnerable. Absolutely unverifiable of course, but we can hope! For once Covid could do the world a favour.

    I suspect the latter. He will try to de-legitimise the charges, despite Russia being a signatory to the international court of justice (and having a Member as Vice President of the court!).

    According to ratings agencies, Russia is very close to debt default. I expect Russia to move more and more toward 'settling' for the Donbas, with condition that some sanctions be relaxed.

    I hope that is true, but if it is, whilst obviously positive, I can see this happening again in a few years, in Ukraine or somewhere else when Russia restocks their military. As you say, they overreached, and now they can claim they were only after the Donbas anyway, spin it as a win in Russia, and no-one learns anything. We need to punish these f**kers, and make it absolutely clear that being a dickless, piece of warmongering s**t does not get results. China are watching with maps of Taiwan at the ready.

    I mean, yeah, I sort of agree with this actually, and begrudgingly I would probably have to admit that they have kept a sort of uneasy peace. But they just demonstrate the horrific evil mankind is capable of.
