  1. We used to call that 'The Environmental Management Paradox', and it is a knotty problem because the developing world has a point. Who are we to tell them they have to decarbonise after the economic fruit of industry has resulted in us becoming 'developed' at the expense of the developing world. Problem is, that now needs to happen. But it won't. Which is why we're f**ked.
  2. Don't necessarily agree with you on the resources argument. It's a long old debate in Geography circles, but I've never prescribed to that argument myself. At the end of the day we as a species possessed the technology to solve this in the 1990s. Collectively (although as I've been screaming about this since my days at uni in the early 2000s I am loathed to put myself in this group) we have only lacked the will. That's why it's so tragic, and why I and many of my former colleagues (I don't work in that field now), are so utterly heartbroken on an almost daily basis.
  3. As someone who studied climate, sad to say that descent started at least two decades ago. We've not seen the effect of the last decade or more of emissions yet. And they are still. Still. After all this talk of net zero, going up globally. We haven't even started to start to reduce emissions. The time where we could act to prevent the worst is, unfortunately over.

Their wildlife will have pyrophytic adaptations. Ours don't.

Saw two massive fires while on the road today in Southborough and High Wycombe
  6. Fair enough, but he still scored 17 goals. With the exception of the last year at Chelsea, where he was ill used, he's been scoring at a rate of almost 1:2 at Roma, at Chelsea, at England, England U21s and Villa. The guy scores goals. Over his whole career so far he's 151 goals in 318 games.
  7. He did score 17 goals in 37 games. For someone whose xg is shocking, he sure scores some g's.
  8. The Meaning Evil is touting that Chelsea have offered us the 'opportunity' to buy Ross Barkley again. Ahahaha.
  9. Think so. I make him our 9th highest paid player at present, although the info I have doesn't include Kamara or Carlos, so likely 11th.
  10. JJ made 34 appearances last year to Chuk's 12, and became an important part of the first team. He signed a contract in April for £70k a week. No frigging way is Chuk getting £100k. Not. a. chance.
  11. Yeah, I don't mind Forest. Proper old club.
  12. Yeah, sucks. Macron for you. Their home is better, but it's such a classic colour it's difficult to mess up. So glad our kits are no longer made by Macron.
  13. I see Deano couldn't resist getting some claret on the away kit.
  14. What matters? It! Apparently. Edit, in all seriousness, that is a lovely shirt.
  15. That's in the running for worst sports kit of any kind, for any sport ever. Absolutely foul. The colours, the pattern, the cut, everything. Slightly shiny, too, just like PE kits. Just vomitous hideousness.
  16. Heung Min-Son. What a player. Outrageous stats.
  17. Palace are interesting mainly because of the manager. Relatively unproven but lots of potential. Reminds me of a certain someone. They have some really good players but are somewhat reliant on a maverick playmaker. Basically us a couple of years ago.
  18. I've never understood how you could be anti abortion and pro death penalty, myself. The sanctity of life above all els.......nah kill him.
  19. I'm struggling with the idea of watching the new Thor. Not because I don't love the MCU, I do. Not because I didn't like Ragnarok, I did, and I find Taika's stuff hilarious. No, it's because of the last Dr Strange. I was really looking forward to it, and I ended up turning it off after about 30 minutes. Easily the worst thing I've seen in the MCU. It's kind of soured me on any of the others going forward. I even had to rewatch Endgame in case it had been rubbish all along (it wasn't, it's still awesome). Please someone watch Love and Thunder and tell me it's brilliant, cos I'm not positive on it atm.
  20. In that case I apologise. FWIW I remember Forest as an established Prem club during the 90's, and to me they are a Big Club, like us. I also think of teams like Sheffield Wednesday as a big club, for the same reason, and for their history as one of the league founders. I would really like them back in the big time, at the expense of teams like Fulham and Huddersfield. I also remember Brighton being on the verge of annihilation at the bottom of the pyramid, so it's always weird to see them around and about. Edit- My history is terrible, apparently Wednesday were not founding members of the league, despite being one of the oldest clubs. They were founders of the Football Alliance, which merged with the league in 1892. My bad. I'll shut up now.
  21. I don't understand why the period post Saunders has been used in this argument. The original argument was that NF only won during the Clough years, which is fair enough, but the comparison with Villa is false, because the post Saunders era is the exception over our long history. During the significantly longer pre-Saunders era, we won stacks, including the league another 6 times, and the FA Cup 7 times. It's therefore not possible to compare Notts Forest (relatively short period of success) with us, who have had a much longer period, but just not now.
