  1. In fairness, a half decent shadow cabinet would be able to tear them a new one in PMQs. They are getting away with it at the moment because parliament is not in session.
  2. There have been 188,000 deaths from covid in this country. Imagine being involved in that, and your only regret is that we locked down too much, and didn't get enough people killed.
  3. Rishi saying that the government's response to lockdown was wrong, saying they 'trusted scientific advisers too much'. This really is a race to utter oblivion for this country. I really wish I'd moved to NZ when I had the chance.
  4. Well she's incompetent enough to be Trump, for sure. Can you see people storming the capital to overthrow democracy for her, though?
  5. Do Bailey's caps say anything about his quality? They are like a league 1 side, no?
  6. As long as the press conference is on the edge of a cliff, and his wheelchair has no brakes, I'm all for it. White cliffs of Dover would be on brand.
  7. I went with Arsenal. It looks modern, but conveys history. Has a shield (although I picked our old roundel as my fav. villa crest), but does something different with it. Plus the colours are classic, can't really go wrong. I don't mind City though, although they play up the sailing ship motif a lot for a city that can only be reached by ship via a canal. Can you even sail through a canal, or would you need to use oars/legging?
  8. In fairness, though asking fans about something like this is always problematic. There are always going to be differences of opinion, and if you try to please most people, you will probably end up with something horribly bland, similar to the current crest (imo, obviously).
  9. Yeah a few have said that, but I'm not feeling Nantes. I think it's the colour. It's a bit 'fyffes' if that makes sense.
  10. Incidentally which former villa logo did everyone go for? I have a feeling I know the answer.
  11. Struggled for european clubs. Looked at Feyenoord for a bit, but went with Milan. Honestly I thought there was room for improvement with all of them. Hate Juve's (Zebre)
  12. I went for Bristol. Nice mix. I went for Bristol. It's a nice mix.
  13. Ah, got it. Twitter thing threw me off.
  14. What survey is this? On this thread? I must have missed it and I want a go.
  15. You guys are really making it difficult for me to get on with work today, I must say.
  16. Well I would say that no statistician ever asked for fewer data points, which for me at least is why I'd say I want more time to see what happens before getting rid. A win at west ham and the table would look very much more positive, and statistically at least would provide some evidence of progress. But realistically, I'd want to see where we are at the end of September.
  17. Fair point. No individual club's decision to sack or stick by a manager is made in a vacuum, there are always many factors. I think the attempt to normalise/control the data is reasonable personally, but nothing is ever perfect. Point is, if you took a poll (and I'm sure someone on here did) of whether SG should be sacked before the start of the season (just 3 games ago), I doubt it would be 90% like now. That suggests, regardless of whether they justify the decision by saying 'football has been garbage for months and months', and perhaps not even consciously, part of the swing to that opinion now is based on short term factors.
  18. That is the million dollar question.
  19. No, the stats suggest it would happen anyway over the same time period. Again, by all means look to change manager, but do it because of long term progress, not short term results.
  20. Indeed. I was just pointing out that any new manager bounce we would hope to get from changing manager now is similarly false.
  21. Yep, 100%. Changing a manager should only ever be done when looking at long term direction of the club, and never because of a run of games.
  22. I guess you could argue that, sure. It's important not to prescribe undue meaning to statistics. They are very useful, but only tell you a very specific thing.
