I wish I'd seen the Foos headline Glastonbury. I watched it on the TV (not being a massive Foos fan, but appreciating them), and man, Dave Grohl had the crowd in the palm of his hands.
On a different tangent, gigs i've been to that other people keep telling me they wish they'd gone to- Radiohead at Glasto 97, REM at Glasto 99. Those were the two best gigs I've ever been to.
Doesn't that second paragraph effectively make asylum seeking illegal? They can only claim if they are here in person, and being here in person without entry clearance is illegal. Maybe it's more nuanced than that, but it sort of seems like it.
I've never understood how any of the parties can talk about 'draining the swamp' and then brazenly and without irony take donations from lobbyists.
The Republicans in particular with their oil and NRA donors (I appreciate the NRA money has dropped off, but historically).
Sky have given the players a reason to be there since 1992.
Last year (2021-2022) only £700M of the £5,400M received by Premier league clubs came from matchday revenue.
Just because it's common, it doesn't make it right. No way would we have booed this back in the 90's/00's. In fact during all the matches I went to during that time (hundreds) I don't remember hardly ever hearing boos, except when things got really ugly toward the end of a manager's reign.
I was there last night, and I don't think it was 40,000 people. My face was cringing so hard during it though, it resembled a fist.
Yes, they do, and that comes from their Boss. Unai Emery. The man who is paid to motivate them. Not the fans, who are supposed to be encouraging them.
After one half is worse. The players will be leaving the field thinking 'f**king entitled fans'.
Show me a footballer who either doesn't care about losing, or actively wants to lose, and I'll show you a footballer who never played past high school. These are not 5 year olds (and I have a 5 year old). They do not need constant berating when they don't play well. They will know they've not played well, and will want to do better. They would not be Premier League footballers if they did not.
Who here has not had a bad day at work, or made mistakes? Did you need your colleagues to tell you you were shit? Would that have helped?
All booing does is alienate the players from the fan base.
Then give them half time to rectify things. They came out and had what I think we all agree, was a much better half. Saw problem, addressed problem, got something from the game.
Just act like adults, and treat the players like adults.
After one half, booing is waaaay over the top. There has to be some context here. We just beat f***ing Tottenham. It's absolutely to do with entitlement.
And yeah fans have the right to boo. They also have the responsibility to not act like a spoiled child after one half of football.
It's Emery's job to motivate the team when there is a perceived lack of effort. In part it's our job as fans to get behind the team. If they've been s**t for 6 weeks, then I could understand the booing (even if i'd never do it). After one half of football, it's pathetic.
I've just read the Match thread. Sheesh.
Emery wins 4 in 6 so far, unbeaten in the league, and all league wins against top 7 sides. Somebody actually said we'd appointed the wrong manager.
Some folks need to take a long hard look at themselves. We have one off night (and still didn't lose). And the half time booing?! WTF was that about? It's embarrassing to be a Villa fan sometimes.
