    Fair. Think you are right. I only think we've been targeting players based in Europe because a) Unai has experience and knows where value can be found, and b) most PL players are going nowhere in Jan, especially decent players. Decent strikers are like gold-dust. I would expect more domestic scouting in the summer as those bargains get taken up by clubs all over Europe.

    I agree entirely, but Dembele does look a different type of Striker than Ings to me. Drops deep, holds the ball, releases the wide forwards, none of which Ings could do very well. I think it's purely down to style, rather than overall ability. I liked Danny a lot, a really good poacher (to use FM parlance), but that is quite restrictive if you are looking to be a counter attacking or possession side. I can see why they would want a change, if it is indeed Dembele that we are after.

    I don't see how they can, unless they get half the first team to dress like teenagers and somehow convince officials that they are under "21". Lots of fake IDs being knocked up as we speak, like the ones you used to get in Sainsbury's Car Park so you could buy booze. I mean.....allegedly. Edit. BTW I thought they had to submit registration docs at the end of the transfer window, would that not make them ineligible in February, not just next season? Maybe someone who knows the regs better than me can confirm.

    Exactly. Moneyball is about taking players others wouldn't based on deep statistics. If anything that's more like what we are doing with Moreno and Duran.

    Goalies don't tend to get those as much though. They are (mostly) protected from contact.

    It really isn't that unrealistic. We have such an injury precedent in Wes. The point was not about any upcoming signing, the point was that selling Ings has caused the need for us to buy.... you know what let's leave it, because as I mentioned, and this is only more obvious after Unai's comments, we will be signing more folk.

    Ok, serious questions, say we buy nobody, and in the first game after the window shuts, Ollie gets a season ending injury. Not entirely unwarranted, probably unlikely but it definitely could happen. It's a measurable risk. 1.) Assuming we then play Jhon up front for the remainder of the season how many goals do we think he will score. 2.) Where will we finish in the league. Selling Danny was probably shrewd in terms of economic business, but damn it comes with a risk. Except it doesn't because we will sign someone.

    Can I just pump the brakes on this perceived backlash please, since before people came on posting 'humerous' memes about bedwetting, most people on here were suggesting that as long as we have a plan in place to replace him, and we obviously do, there were no issues. We can be concerned about the possibility that we will have issues if we run the rest of the season with only two strikers, one effectively a youth player, without absolutely shitting ourselves. Geez, the internet just polarizes instantly.
