  1. interesting... its quite close....
  2. i'm sure that when I said on another thread i wouldn't grass someone up if i saw a minor crime taking place (minor ,i'm not talking rape or murder etc) i got a lot of flack and the usual I'm alright jack and not on my street type replies thrown at me ...(must be something about what i post :-) ) but it would suggest that most on here are happy with grassing thy neighbour ? if you had more doctors and hospitlas would it result in fewer or more sick people ? same for the police i guess , would more police result in fewer murders taking place for example or just more being caught ? maybe tougher penalties is a better deterrent than more police ? more docs & hospitals would mean same amount of illness, but better treatment. more police would mean more criminals would be caught, which in turn would lead to a drop in the overall amount of crime. But only if the criminals were locked up, and not just told not to do it again. so yes, tougher penalties are needed, along with an increase in the number of police. Then as crime falls, there would be less police needed in the longer-term. and yes, if i knew a crime was being committed which impacted someone else, then i would inform the police, whether it was my neighbour or a relative.
  3. i haven't read the stuff about project Griffin.. but if i'm understanding it properly, this is only in the case of an extreme terrorist attack? in which case, normal rules go out of the window, and you need all thehelp you can get (just for the short period afterwards). if this is what i am reading into it, then i'm ok with it. Policing numbers - i believe they should double the number of police, not reduce them.

    Do you read?

deja vu (not a book, but this thread!) anyways, without naming the same books... yes, i read. seem to go in patches - won't read for a month... then stumble across a good book, and read everyday until the book is finished. i'm currently reading Xenocide by Orson Scott Card.
  5. So do people think that their salary is fair for the work they carry out? So not based on the work you're supposed to do, or your job title, or the industry average for your profession, but based on the actual work you do each day. Don't worry, we won't tell your employer if you are overpaid :winkold:
  6. It never ceases to amaze me that any Villa fan would "like" having the Scum in our league. Especially the fans that actually live in Brum and get to see these retards at close quarters i think its because i really don't care about them. I support Villa, and the Blues have nothing to do with the Villa. I'll support other teams depending on how it affects Villa - ie: if Blues were playing Everton/Man City, i would definitely be supporting Bham. also, the banter is good fun - you have got to admit that!
  7. definitely Newcastle. i like the Blues being in the Premier League - more banter with mates, & better for the city of Bham. I'd rather Chelsea disappeared first though.
  8. i've changed my mind.... i had voted for 2 ..... but now i think 1 person. but it'll be a good'un. around 10-12million mark. probably right midfield, or striker. no right-back till summer, as Mellberg is staying.
  9. no problem passing the test now. sure, i might have some bad habits, but can drive properly just to pass a test if i need it.

i like no 3.... but the league cup should be bottom right, rather than top left... its given too much promenence where it is. its also bigger than the FA Cup & league trophy. FA Cup or league trophy should be top left, i think.
  11. How either of these abominations can be described as good old pop music is beyond me. Utter shite. ah come on.... Rihanna - Umbrella is already a modern day classic!! 10 weeks at no1, biggest selling single of 2007.... plus it rained continously for 10 weeks whilst that song was no1, and ost of the country flooded!! how many other songs do you know that can control the weather? :winkold:
  12. from the previous 6 pages, i have only ever heard of 2 of these songs before.... no-one listen to any good old pop music nowadays? i've just listened to a bit of Rihanna - Umbrella, followed by the new one from Girls Aloud.
  13. nice site. clean, easy to use, easy to navigate, fast. might be useful if u could look at a certain area of the county ie: West Midlands for all activities in that area. unless that is the new section u are trying to add anyway...
  14. I'd go with Barry over Young. Barry wil get some goals, some assists, and of course penalties. depending which Fantasy Football you are doing, Barry also picks up bonus points for playing well.
  15. i'm sure i read somewhere that its assumed to be shaped like a squiggly oval (hard to explain what i mean without drawing it). This is because different areas of the universe are expanding at different speeds at different times over the history of the universe.
  16. depends what ur looking for. i was also looking at the G800 a couple of weeks ago, and ended up choosing the G600. Thats because one of the most important things for me is the size of the phone. The G800 is quite thick, as is the N95. Haven't had a go with the F700 so can't comment on that - except to say that quite a few people don't like touch screens, as it can be too sensitive & get pressed accidently.
  17. was she hot? :winkold:
  18. Let me guess, they grabbed you outside pizza hut in town asking if you'd like a free stress test? LOL, got it in one, and at the time, as i was really stressed under as id just had a job interveiw (i didnt get it cuz of my brummy accent - read other topic! lol) i thought, why not! did they get you like that? Yep. A fair few of my friends have been got by them as well. I didn't buy the book though! When I realised it was scientology I laughed at them and started asking when the aliens were coming back and they weren't too happy. hahaha.. same thing happened to me a few years back. Got stopped outside Pizza Hut, and ended up buying the same book about dianetics!
  19. Can we have a "dunno, think it'll be close, but either guy could just nick it" option... or words to that effect. i think it could go either way.
  20. disagree with this article. Nowdays the premiership is a joy to watch because football is about skill. in the bad old days, football was physical, which i have no desire to watch. so glad referees clamp down on tackling, so that skill can be allowed to show through.

own up.. who put we'll get relegated?
  22. But maybe the masses still need controlling? After all, in this country, as people are becoming less religious, are we seeing an increase in stealing, cheating, violence, etc. Some people don't have the brains/willpower to self-impose a moral code, and so need a guiding force like religion to control their wild impulses. by the way, i'm an Atheist (who was brought up as a Hindu).
  23. I dunno if this has been discussed (haven't read all 479 pages!). Would we want Tevez? and do think he would come to us if we tried to bid for him? how much? Would he fit in our team? and who else would we be fighting to sign him?
  24. To change the topic: General, Do we have a women's team? Are the 'Aston Villa Ladies' part of us, or just affiliated with us, or nothing to do with Aston Villa. Do we plan to invest in making the women's team successful (like Arsenal). Its obviously not Villa's priority, but it would be nice to see a long-term plan to at least get them into the women's premier league. Shouldn't really cost a lot either.
  25. yeah, but even the ones who pick Villa over West ham... we're gonna end up paying double money for, just cos West Ham will force the price up with silly bids.
