  1. Exactly how they introduced paid pick up and drop offs at Liverpool Airport. In response to the Glasgow Airport attack in 2007
  2. Hmmmm, I suspect its aimed more at keeping the throbber tendancy inside the Tory Party at bay rather than a dead cat
  3. Does she realise that iPlayer covers every single TV channel anyway Never was the sharpest grifter on the block
  4. I'm sorry but that is something I could never agree with. There isn't a single year of my existence where what ITV produced as a whole was ever better than what the BBC produced overall. I realise this is entirely subjective but I don't think that statement could be more wrong
  5. If anyone is expecting an answer to rhetorical question, it isn't a rhetorical question.
  6. Reversing into parking bays especially at shopping centres is daft, you want the boot at the accessible end to put the shopping in and reversing out is far quicker than reversing in
  7. As a kid when I was at our house in Wales I used to play on the Beeching axed station that was opposite the house and I was befriended by the men who used to work on the railway which still ran up to the colliery. There was also a private rail line that went up the valley to a quarry, the man that drove that train day in day out lived at the back of our house and was a family friend. I used to know all the train drivers as a consequence I'd end up in the cab of the class 37 locos that went up to the pit washery to collect the coal, four times or more a day. I'd be allowed to drive both the 37s and the Sentinel up to the quarry, only for short straight bits and totally supervised. Sometimes, I'd ride in the cab all the way down to Radyr Marshalling Yard and back up to our village again (over 20 miles each way) I still love the noise a Class 37 makes, its up there with the noise of a Rolls Royce Merlin engine The Sentinel was even madder, here's photo of one You can see front and back it has outside bits you can stand on, yep, I'd ride the train on those up this single track and jump off just before the quarry and in about an hour I'd jump back on and ride back down to the house To me this was normal, if my parents asked where I'd been, i'd tell them, not an eyelid was batted, they trusted the people I was with but can you imagine the absolute hell that would be unleashed today if an 8 year old kid was doing that?
  8. Sort of connected to the above I dragged this out A collection of Ennio Morricone's music for Spaghetti Westerns Which features many pieces of greatness including this from a film called Vamos A Matar Compañeros
  9. You won't. You'll be phoning Noel Tidybeard when you have Altzheimers Noel, I'd like to swap this small heath football shirt for ANYTHING
  10. So £2bil cut to the BBC and abolishing the licence fee... Your TV output is about to get shit
  11. Next up... Music from the film Mackenna's Gold by Qunicy Jones (never heard of it!) from 1969 featuring the vivid artistry, no less of José Feliciano (The first time he featured in a film soundtrack according to the blurb) The film starred Gregory Peck and Omar Sharif with telly Savalas co-starring. Quincy is definitely channeling Morricone here, it sounds very much like a Western Soundtrack of the era Worth three times what I paid for it (£1.99)
  12. I was sent out foraging to the supermarkets today and this caught my eye in Oxfam It is amusing, It also features Jack Bruce, Bernie Marsden and Gary Moore (You'll spot his tracks without looking at the credits and yes, they are shite) It's worth at least a quid more than I paid for it (£2.99) and.... it's autographed with the intruction to Play it Loud! It's just very silly! The more it veers into Jazz Rock, the worse it is It's just a shame they didn't bung Dance with the Devil on there The title track Over The Top is last as you can imagine this is the bonkers finale to a gig promoting the album that showcases all of Cozy Powell's erm talents, it even features Tchaikovsy's 1812 Overture, it's very ELP, if you don't take it seriously it's hilarious
  13. It really isn't that if you've seen it, it is essentially a prison cell with a veranda. You can only leave to put rubbish in the bin and take a shower I'm not saying Jokavic shouldn't have to suck it up like anyone else but it's no basic hotel they get put in
  14. The Opinium Poll for the Observer that is the talk of the media (other intersting bits in the continuing thread)
  15. His main redeeming feature is that anything he says is usually wrong. He is the anti-barometer of the left in this country
  16. I'm playing this because I'm curious, this is one of those records I bought without hearing anything, from a description in the record shop. it is not as it was described and it really isn't my thing. It's pretty much a hard rock record by a band from Norway If I didn't have this record, I'd still be blissfully unaware of their existence, it'll be one of the first records I sell if I ever need to but I keep it because the price is not going down. There is currently one for sale on Discogs, globally (it's in Germany) and its pennies under £50 at the current exchange rate Hold on, last track on side 1 is actually ok, I don't think I've got this far before Their second Album... Spydergawd II (Spydergawd is also the name of the band) First Europe wide pressing on 180g "Deep Purple" vinyl. Definitely a @Rugeley Villarecord back in the racks it goes until I'm either skint or need to free up space (that time may come quite soon)
  17. It is and now I've upgraded one of my copies, apart from a few crackles on the quieter intro on Side B it plays really well. i'd always assumed both my copies were buggered but not at all
  18. I have two copies of this (suspected DJ Boxes mixup with someone elses), I am trying to work out which is the decent copy, so I'll have to play it twice The current copy that is playing, is decent on side A at least and, i've just realised both copies I own are first pressings not second (same year 1989, for both variants) which bumps up their value a little as they have the embossed sleeve and the Spacemen 3 logo on the labels. I'm hoping that this plays as well on side B because, I'll have a great copy if that is the case. Spacemen 3 - Playing with Fire
  19. I posted about that before Xmas. I agree, very enjoyable for an afternoon n the sofa
  20. There's plenty, you just need to look harder and look in the right places.
  21. There are plenty and probably many more people prepared to say such things publically. They just don't get the opportunity or the coverage in....
