Announcement by who? The government? I don’t imagine that’s remotely true to be honest. Why would they hold a press conference just to say “Suck it up!”

It’s 1p more for diesel that the 3 chain petrol stations by me. Fortunately Tescos is a slightly more sensible £1:54.9 That’s a 64p per gallon difference between 4 garages and 3 of them are within a mile of each other
  3. Refuelling other aircraft in flight I would think, it’s an Airbus A330 tanker
  4. Well Good Friday is a tradition of mine. Celebratng Dead Jesus day in the pub, I'll be out before she gets here Working on the rest as we speak
  5. F***! Easter is ruined. The sister-in-law has invited herself up for the weekend It rather spend it with Vladimir Putin
  6. They might but that will possibly spark bigger protests
  7. I think the current events would have happened regrdless of the declaration of intent. There is also an argment that it bought them time between 2014 and now. I also suspect that COVID also bought Ukraine some more time. The whole Ukraine / NATO / Russia situation was going on before and at the start of the pandemic. Trump was even using it as a stick to beat Biden with in the Presidential election. If that threat of joining NATO hadn't existed, this may have happened much sooner. Who knows really?
  8. This is incredible, a press conference with three Russian POWs. I'm sure it breaks all kinds of conventions but the statements don't appear forced or involutary in any way.
  9. Any chance you could edit this post to have an and separating the two different opinions. The way it reads currently only credits you with one idiotic opinion not the two you are full value for. Credit, where credit's due an all that
  10. I was given some records a few years ago by a mate who was emigrating. This is one of them Yachts were another of those bands from the Eric's Scene in Liverpool. This, is their eponymously titled debute from 1979. It's power pop really but also very much has a similar flavour of some of the other bands around at or just after that time. I can hear bits of early Wah and early Icicle Works (who followed not preceeded them) They are only really notable for being Henry Priestman's first band. Henry was in The Christians and wrote most of the first two albums (the best ones) and also featured Martin Dempsey who was later in a band called The Mellotones, who were essentailly the band of the lads that worked behind the counter in Probe Records and who Kurt Cobain oftern referenced as an influence It's OK but that's all it is, nothing more nothing less. I keep it as an artifact of the time more than anything
  11. Well if that is the case, it should be realised that it was written into the constitution as a direct result of the 2014 Russian Invasion They had nothing to lose by doing it, they'd already been invaded by Russia at that point
  12. Russia invading Ukraine is releated to supposed NATO expansion (or it was until it was about de-Nazification ) As a member of NATO, it is almost impossible for the UK to remain neutral, like it or not, we have to be involved It's nothing to do with being drowned in noise, it's more about having a slight understanding about the international relations that are at play here. Neutrality isn't really an option that we have
  13. The I feel was an irrelevance, we know it's your opinion, it doesn't need qualifying, I quoted the important part
  14. Enlighten us with your strategic genius and superior intellect
  15. NPR Very long article on NPR, well worth reading if you have the time
  16. Its not even that many people This is what 100,000 people on the streets of Moscow looks like. From 2011 And this is 100,000 people protesting in Moscow in 1991 at the time of the collapse of the Soviet Union

So the three chain garages by me haven't ever really put the prices down much after the last nutty price increases whereas all the others did shrink back down All three of them as of today are at £1:68.9, the two Euro Garages (a Shell and an Esso) put it up to that price two days ago but the BP only went to £1:62.9 yesterday, today, it's just matched the other two The Tesco garage is still at £1:54.9. I just filled the car up. That is a difference of nearly 64p a Gallon. All efectively on the same main road (apart from the BP which is just off it) all in a three mile stretch And the Tesco is probably the most expensive Tesco petrol in 20 miles
  18. I really don't think Zelensky is looking to curry favour with Moscow at this point
  19. Putin's immediate replacement is likely to be a General you'd imagine. And that would be someone who'll realise that Putin has lost a huge amount of vehicles and some of its best men (and leaders too we're hearing) I imagine that any military person would want to salvage whatever is left of the army to defend their own country first and foremost. They'd also know that it would buy them time on the home front as it would be a popular move to bring the army out I could obviously be wrong but you have to think that the military wouldn't want to double down on the current shitshow
  20. I usually think a decent cover has to offer something different, all Galaxy 500 did was slow it down a little and slightly change the phrasing of the chorus but it's enough I still like this almost as much as the Joy Division / New Order original. You can actually make out the lyrics better on this version too
