  1. I've just changed my stylus because I needed a new one but I decided to go a model up from the Ortofon OM 5E (£35) to the OM 10 (£50) So out comes the testing record, Spirit of Eden by Talk Talk. It's the perfect test record, full range of sound, emptier spaces and full on cacophony There's definitely an improvement is sound quality, improved separation, the top end is a little bit brighter and the mids seem more defined I'm really pleased with the extra £15 I spent The only thing that wories me is that I might be tempted to move up to the OM 20 next time and thats a huge price increase (£150)

    Energy Bills

My granddads house had a coal fire in the living room and a Rayburn (posh coal fire - with glass front) eventually in the front room which he typically refused to use unless it was Xmas He used to cook in the oven at the sie of the coal fire and wouldn't use the electric cooker unless he had to Kettles we boiled on the fire, toast was made on the fire. Vegetables were boiled in pans on swivelling platforms attached to the fire Electricity was for TV and lighting He'd even keep the fire "In" all night by banking it up over night with coal dust Good job as an ex-miner he didn't actually pay for the coal The house was rarely cold being a terrace full of people in exactly the same mindset
  3. There's also this one Torygraph Second in command of the entire Black Sea Fleet. Shot leading troops into battle around Mariupol
  4. Not sure if this has been seen here yet. Obviously its a very wild claim but there is some corroboration with deaths of senior officers and NCOs being confirmed in their local Russian newspaer including the commander of the unit (Colonel) and the deputy commander (captain) The regiment is considered to be one of Russia's elite units
  5. Now I'd suggest that is propaganda Why announce that publically? "Dear Vlad, you are going to be overthrown and this is your successor" Nope, not buying that as factually correct
  6. Infuriating digit swap for 4 today nerdlegame 60 4/6
  7. Wales should never have let him go but tbh, they'd still be a poor side this year. They need to rebuild and start again too many are over the hill
  8. Given that Azov are very busy blowing up Russian armour in the Donbas I don’t see how they’d manage it
  9. I was trying to think of something to say, I'm sure you'll all know what to think anyway
  10. You should go back to the numbers one, they've improved it so you can have the right numbers and operators in a different order as long as the answer is correct But heardle is really the one for you (Song intros)
  11. Yep, agree, guessed a PL footballer, not a PL footballer, gave up
  12. nerdlegame 59 3/6 Did it in three but it took some time to go through the permutations in my head today. Pleased to get it in three but it definitely twisted the braincells
  13. Scouse pensioner in Liverpool-on-Sea I imagine
  14. Are you in that campervan park by the new Lifeboat station? Just so I can drive past later playing Ride at top volume with the windows open Picked a nice day for it! It's a good second hand shop, if you know what you want, if like me you are a browser I find it a bit hard because it's not easy to just browse The shop was started by that lads dad who is no longer with us but it explains the huge stock he has for a relatively young bloke
  15. I used to know Jonathon reasonably well and was on nodding terms with Tom. Early on they did some really good developments and later some utter shite if I'm honest but a lot of the stuff they've done where they've essentially built something where previously there's been utter dereliction has been great. That's the kind of gentrification that's needed They started the Baa Bar chain of pubs because they wanted a decent bar in their first development, which also housed their offices. Not only did the Baa Bar go on to become a reasonably succesful chain which they sold on but a whole entertainment district in Liverpool grew around that regeneration. The Concert Square area of Liverpool was started by their regeneration and from that Liverpool grew as a weekend tourist destination. As much as people will tell you that the football did that, they'd be talking bollocks. Creating that city centre entertainments district allowed the football tourism to take off. Liverpool really does owe Jon and Tom a huge debt of gratitude I've not kept that much of an eye on them since they moved to Manchester and beyond but they were at the forefront of Liverpool's regeneration
  16. Cornwall or 20p shops? I agree anyway
  17. I deal with the Police quite a bit at work. It always amuses me when the Met turn up unannounced as they sometimes do. They absolutely think I'm just going to tell them exactly what they want straight away. I don't think they are used to not getting their own way They have an arrogance that I don't encounter with any other force. Trouble is I'm a stubborn word removed when it comes to stuff like this. I always win
