  1. Billy Bragg had moderate success Rock n Roll is a derivative art form, you don't have to be completely original but you do need to bring something new and fresh to old ideas. Oasis didn't do that imo everything was recycled but nothing was upcycled.
  2. Roads are fine around here. It's been cold and any snow we had has gone. In the words of Mark E Smith.... Hit the North!
  3. Thanks for telling me what I think. I must remember to ask you before I post again,
  4. It's winning because it will exist. Putin wanted to subsume the whole country and wipe out its culture Ukrainians will tell you that not losing that is a victory, yes theres a cost of human lives but this isn't a fight they started And as the builder of sheds says, they will get a hell of a lot of support from the rest of the world to rebuild when this is over.
  5. Just returned from Bill Ryder-Jones at District in Liverpool Good gig, some old songs and some new material from the album out late spring next year A bit of humour, this song was about a bad break-up that tore me apart but now it's about Richarlison A full venue was still absolutely baltic (appropriate for where it is) The guy is a real talent. That they had to put on the adverts Bill Ryder-Jones (The Coral) is a bit insulting really, he left the band 15 years ago and has a fine body of work in his own right. Noy only that but he's even produced one of the best albums of the year (Michael Head's latest) Support was provided by Sweet Baboo another under the radar musician whose worked with Gryff Rhys, Cate Le Bon, H. HAwkline and Euros Childs. He had to leave the gig before BRJ played because he's due back in Cardiff to work on the next Euros Childs album Thoroughly enjoyable night Oh and best of all, no sodding encores
  6. The Real People taught them everything they knew about ripping off Beatles songs. It’s literally how they started writing songs, copying chord sequences from Beatles songs in the Real Peoples Dock Road studio.
  7. I’ve said this before I think but Noel was a nice bloke and gave me a hand with a few boxes when he was the Inspiral Carpets roadie. The gig was at Strathclyde Uni before even the Inspirals were that big.
  8. Different times. The DLT one is a thread worthy of reading on it's own. Ignoring what later transpired about DLT, you still can't see either of those books being published today. It makes me laugh that either was published
  9. It's a question that follows on from "The death of one man is a tragedy. The death of millions is a statistic." Because what was planned by Russia for Ukraine was literally that Ukraine would no longer exist as a country.
  10. Ah the Dave Chappelle thing was last night, so maybe not related but here's a longer version of the video Thats going to hurt. That video is nearly 5 mins but lots of people saying it was closer to ten minutes
  11. Musk's Tweet is timed 25 mins prior but that doesn't mean anything other than they are related events. Your tweet probably isn't live
  12. How can you tell I took the day off today? 1 System Error 6 Police enquiries 2 Licensing enquiries And a huge email chain about fixes to the system that have been in the pipeline since forever Great
  13. Actually closer inspection says I have two of the others, Dr Dre and Eminem. Didnt spot those the first time but that is just about the point where I started going off Rap, doubt I've bought any since those albums
  14. All pretence of being "centrist" has now disappeared
  15. Erm, this is by no means a recommendation for Lana Del Rey but its the least I want to top myself album displayed
  16. I was playing Ash Ra Tempel on a compilation only half an hour ago
  17. Not for the former shareholders of Twitter
  18. Right now there’s no way he’s the world richest man
  19. This investment is propped up by his Tesla stock. If Twitter goes tits up, he no longer owns a good chunk of his currently held Tesla stock
