  1. Traditionally it's more of a Boxing Day thing (Day after Xmas). Supermarkets do sell much larger roast ham joints than they normally do at this time of year as a result. (At twice the price or more!)
  2. Surely the age boundary for feeling Russian is much higher than that though? I was in Lithuania and Latvia at the end of the Soviet era. Glasnost / Perestroika times. The Baltic countries had just been allowed to fly their flags a year or so before. Even back then it wasn't easy to find someone my age at the time or even slightly older that felt Russian. Old people back then sure, they were the ones going back into the reopened orthodox churches (we quickly learned that hats on men inside churches is disrespectful ) From that experience I imagine that the age boundary is more like 65 or so. Is that not correct?
  3. TIL learned about Latvia and potatoes jokes

  5. its 800 a day twice a week, I eat normally the rest of the week. I've also really cut back on drinking, not really deliberately, thats just sort of happened. On a 800 day I'll have some instant Soba Noodles in a pot for lunch (usually about 220 cal) and then a light meal for tea, something usually around 550 cal. Really its only 800 calories over 36 hours each time because of the spacing between meals If I drink coffee on those days its always black I even went to a gig on diet day this week and just drank water, which must be a first
  6. Panda Bear and Sonic Boom - Reset I posted this the other week, I played it a few times and liked it but haven't played it much since. Anyway Tim Burgess did his Xmas listening Party on Lamaq's show this evening and played a track from it. That sparked me to stick it on again. This album really is a good one, Noah Lennox and Pete Kember really do make a good working combo It's the best Panda Bear album I've heard since Person Pitch way back in time. The Beach Boys is always an obvious comparison with PB but he does sound uncannily like peak Brian Wilson, then add in all the Sonic Boom psych influences, effects and his clean production and I think this album is a bit of an alt-pop masterpiece. Kember and Lennox have worked together a while on each others projects but this is the first time they've shared the credit for the output. I hope they do more of this. Something has to give in that top ten of the year I posted to make way for this, which had only just been released when I did that list
  7. I'm doing 800 calories max 2 days a week and its working. Realise I'll take a hit over xmas but looking to do it tues and fri in the week between the eves, just to keep the habit in place EDIT: Just start listening to the Happy Mondays and the Stone roses and you'll get away with the clothes
  8. Don't need to watch the video, I want to go in the record shop
  9. One of them is American and obviously wrong, because those are sausage rolls
  10. Cooked around the turkey in the oven. They are heaven Why would you have pastry on a Xmas dinner?
  11. Tends to be somewhere in the middle for us, usually around 2pm but sometimes 3pm
  12. The moderators of this site have a duty to report suspicious behaviour to the police
  13. The missus has finally caved in on the Xmas Pudding this year. Daughter hates it and never eats it and I eat it but more because it'd go to waste if I didn't so this year its Baked Alaska
  14. A good half of that will be booze though you'd imagine
  15. Seriously, try steaming them in a microwave, the texture and taste is so much better. No mush or vile taste and so much easier on the washing up too You can even buy a bag of prepared sprouts in M&S that you just stick a hole in the bag and bung 'em in the microwave and job done
  16. Having recently bought a number of records he features on, this will make me sad.
  17. Sprouts, microwaved. This is definitely the best way to cook sprouts
  18. Redcurrant jelly or nothing. Cranberry is a really odd taste for me, always leaves my mouth feeling dry. Can't be doing with them, though I have recently discovered dried like raisins, this doesn't happen This This has just been added to my requirements
  19. SKY Just a guess but I guess a lot more of these accounts will pop up now
  20. Yep, they just be queueing up for those jobs where the employer is just as likely to fire you on a whim the next day then not pay the severance pay you are legally entitled to. I reckon most would stay put tbh
  21. Little red dot, invisible at that zoom level
  22. I don't think anyone has any doubts that he knows what he's doing
  23. You can speed up time a bit with milk or water which are probably the best ways to rehydrate yourself as most of the hangover symptoms are caused by the ethanol being a diuretic making you piss a lot and becoming dehydrated as a result But they are certainly no magic bullet, there isn't one as you say.
