  1. Does it shite. Knopfler noodly bollocks. Awful - that is actually the worst part of Local Hero
  2. Does Local Hero have Clare Grogan? No, it is therefore inferior
  3. Serbia's President Vucic appears to have had an epiphany in the last two days Yesterday he complained that Russia (Wagner) was advertising to recruit men in Serbia, which they've been doing for months and today this...
  4. Which language was this written in? Can't seem to get google translate to work!
  5. Why wait until they get to the battlefield? mil.in.ua Sure as eggs is eggs that last bit isn't true. Russian media wouldn't even be reporting it if the last bit were true
  6. Ah yes forgot that, filmed in Kirkcudbright. My mate owns two houses on the street that runs up to MacLellans Castle where bits of it were filmed. Freaks me out everytime we go there for a weekend on the pop. Also bought the soundtrack on CD a couple of months ago... strange folk music (you an put the emphasis on either of the first two words)
  7. Not even the best Scottish Film Best Scottish film is Gregory's Girl.again by Bill Forsyth Gregory's Girl has Clare Grogan, this will trump any other Scottish film
  8. The govt won't tell you and me that though, because they'll be using the extra income to govt coffers for one or both of these reasons a) Reduce the National Debt by buying back bonds / Gilts etc to boast about the National Debt reduction come election time b) Build up a warchest for tax cuts in the build up to the next election It's all about getting re-elected and not about what is best for the country
  9. Definitely my thoughts with rolling the transfer Plus its closer to the end of the transfer window and there may be new players to consider
  10. The accuracy of the data isn't the point, it's Russian, it isn't going to be the truth
  11. Yahoo The actual video is on Faceache so it won't post here. The link is in the article
  12. Different things. One is an interview, the other is a story. And the journalist wasn't criticised either, no one said he shouldn't have asked the question (apart from on the grounds that the question was a stupid premise in the first place)
  13. EDIT to above recipe, next time, I'm going to reduce courgette amount and increase pea. I'll drop courgette by 100g and increase pea by same amount
  14. Yep we have the thermos branded ones but they worked for us. Heated the soup up at about half 7 in the morning (pre-heated the flasks) and the missus had hers about 1pm and I had mine about 3pm. Soup was still hot This is the model we have. 470ml
  15. Is that the video of at least 7 IFVs destroyed or is that a different incident?
  16. Whilst I agree with you on actually eating celery as celery, it's disgusting stuff but as part of a sofrito or a soup base it's kind of essential. You cannot taste the celery in the soup otherwise it would be lashed in the bin
  17. Sometimes you have no idea how records come to be in your collection. I certainly didn't buy it. It's a bit rubbish. I think this'll end up in a disposal pile. I am getting close to trading in some of the collection, that a) have some value and b) I'll never miss. I want a new turntable and this is probably the way it'll come about. This is in that pile
  18. There was short period in my life where this was my favourite band. The Woodentops second album - Wooden Foot Cops on the Highway I think they'd wained in my affections when this came out but it was bought out of loyalty as much of it so far isn't very familiar. Also iirc I thought it was over-produced at the time. With hindsight, I think I was wrong. It's a much better album than my internal mental rating system had it down as. There are also some other things I've only discovered tonight. Doug Wimbish (On-U / Living Colour) plays bass on some of this, Bernie Worrell (Funkadelic / Parliament etc) plays Clavinet and Gary Lucas (Beefheart sideman in The Magic Band and very recent On-U colaboration) plays slide guitar. It's is produced by Scott Litt who went on the produce 6 REM albums after this. This may have been ahead of its time when released.
  19. People with cushion sheds shouldn't criticise other peoples storage arrangements
  20. New stylus arrived a day early. Now not convinced I need one. It seems like it was the (brand new) record I was playing. Grrrrrr Anyway... Burning Spear - Reggae Greats. One of the great Island Records Greats compilations from the mid-eighties. I have a couple of others too, if I ever spot others of bands I like at a reasonable price, they'll be in the bag. But the prices for 2nd hand reggae records can be obscene. These were mid-price compilations at the time (£4.99 I paid for this from the sticker) but now some of them fetch £30 upwards, like the Toots and the Maytals one which I used to have but is lost in the mists of time. Anyway. A great Burning Spear primer
