Well beating up might be a bit much but yes, he had an argument with another BRMB DJ who was a wheelchair user and during the argument, he managed to pull the DJ out of his chair.
  3. And that is a strange skill considering its made of brass
  4. OMFG! I've only just discovered this Tiny Desk show. The On-U posse in full effect here. Doug Wimbish on bass, Skip McDonald & Crucial Tony on Guitar, Eskimo on Drums, Dave Fullwood on trumpet, even Celloman on... cello and AMS himself doing the mix 2nd song in is the Massive Attack cover (Safe from harm) that framed the Midnight Rockers / Scorchers album sets from last year this is brillaint
  5. I can usually avoid Eurovision even though the daughter and missus love it but this year it really isn't going to be possible

Its not the music with MAH, thats ok and I am getting used to her breathless pretentiousness. Craig Charles on the other hand with anything other than his funk and soul stuff is a phoney prick. The punk thing with him is hilarious, he was in a dreadful metal band in the punk years. He then took up his poetry thing which was good (and he did a very good show on that on National Poetry Day) by bugging Bill Drummond to support the Teardrop Explodes (they all took the piss out of him), his claims to have been around the Eric's scene in Liverpool are based on that. All the people that are still around from Erics think he's a total phoney, they don't remember him. He's an invented caricature, he hasn't got a clue about bands not in his narrow musical knowledge, you can tell when he's interviewing them, there's no depth to his questions, the nuance is all wrong and sometimes he can't even pronounce the bands names correctly. He's just highly irritating. Having said that, they always seem to put a complete prick in the 1-4 slot. The trunk of funk turned into the trunk of punk and now it's about to turn into the Jar of Ska - just F*** Off! Oh and there is one other really irritaing prat on 6 Music, Huey sodding Morgan but I don't usually naturally listen in his slot anyway
  7. I suspect some of you will already know this but it is a brilliant cover

Obviously for those of us of a certain age the journey home from the match was always Tony Butler on BRMB. Unintentionally hilarious and the radio show the three second delay was invented for "Hiya Tone, you're a word removed"

BBC 6 Music is my station of choice. Chris Hawkins on the early shift is goodI've kinda become accostomed to Laverne in the morning but she really did used to irritate me. Mary Anne Hobbs can be overly pretentious but again I'm getting usedto her. Craig Charles can f*** off (1pm to 4pm is unlistenable) then the run of Lamaq / Riley / Coe in my peak listening hours are great Other shows I like are some of the weekend ones - Iggy Pop, great, Whatsisface from Elbow does a good show, SDtuart Maconie's Freak Zone is often brilliant. Don Letts is OK. Tom Robinson can be OK / Can be shit. And Radcliffe and Maconie are great I don't listen to any other station.
  10. Never actually been sold on Discogs though, those prices are just dealers taking a punt on what they think they can get away with An example from my collection. There were two versions of The Freshies single "I'm in love with a girl from the Virgin / A Certain Manchester Megastore Check Out Desk", the original and the certain one after Virgin bizarrely complained about the free publicity. I bought this at the time and it was only when I was cataloging the collection that I realised mine had the labels for the virgin version but played the certain version, so in Discogs world, that's a mislabelled vinyl. It wasn't on Discogs, so I had to put it on myself. So far 7 people have this in their collection and 12 people want it. There is 1 for sale at around £36. No-one knows what its worth because no-one realised it existed until I found my copy, it's never sold, the price is a complete and utter punt Having said that, it is a repress in the original circular cover so that may also be influencing the price Doesn't really matter though does it, because it is a great album. I have it on CD
  11. "Rishi is doing better than expected, Kier is doing worse than expected" Stopped at that point because even that opening gambit to the argument is utter bollocks Have a look at the polling data acrosss all the pollsters, as well as the small amount of actual election data You'd have to either be an idiot or have REALLY skewed expectations in the first place to make that statement The general consenus is that try as he might, Sunak despite doing "positive" things ISN't pushing the numbers upwards, he's managing to tread water, Starmer is still 15-20 points ahead
  12. Yeah I'm not expecting to learn anything but I just watch anything based on that scene anyway
  13. I just reuinted myself with this... Ignore that its a film, I'm not looking at the pictures
  14. Might come with big spiders under the dunny lid though
  15. It kinda interests me because I'm interested in that whole Laurel Canyon thing, not that I like all the bands but the whole melting pot / interconnectivity thing really interests me, so I'm watching it because of that really Beware, there is a Disco singer in it
  16. Compelling and dreadful in equal measure. Supposedly based on Fleetwood Mac. I've watched the first 6 episodes.
  17. Cultural boycotts work, history tells us this. So until every musician in Shropshire apologises to the nation for T'Pau a boycott should be in place The ears of the nation should never have to suffer such sonic distress ever again
  18. Interesting Council By-election in Gloucester yesterday The last time this ward was elected was 2021(three councillors) If you're wondering why the numbers don't add up, it's mainly due to their being no Green candidate this time. So the Green vote split about a third Labour and two thirds LibDem but that doesn't account for all the LibDem gains, disaffected Tories do that. So you do have signs of tactical ABT voters here too. As much as the Gloucester parliamentary seat should be Labour Target on past performance, this will be a quite interesting seat to look out for in the General Electiion as the LibDems have more seats than Labour but were a distant third in 2019. Could be an interesting straight three way fight. Very much an indicator seat I think
  19. Nah, since the day he was elected in all honesty
  20. Wow, I didn't realise Telford had actually reached the early 90s
  21. Do we think he'd have run for President if he wasn't going to be charged with anything? I think both were happening regardless
  22. SInce that seat's inception in 1997, it has always been Tory and most of the time they have had a greater than 50% share of the vote. Their lowest majority before 2019 was nearly 8k. Then 2019 came along, the Labour vote utterly collapsed and the LibDem vote surged as a result This is one of those seats that Labour will actively not try in. The electorate clearly voted tactically last time and it looks like they will do again with the addition of disaffected Tory voters switching to the LibDems. That seeminly happened in 2019 too but they will be in greater numbers this time you have to imagine. Raab will hopefully be one of many Portillo moments in the next election
  23. Could easily do it weekly I think
