  1. nightmare at Xmas in Liverpool that
  2. I reckon you'll get really short odds on the FSB
  3. Actually used to be owned by him. Clearly this is a message for The Chef
  4. They obviously back up my point that the Beatles were shite, both of them
  5. The Smiths are such an important band in the history of British alternative music, it doesn't matter whether you like them or not, they shifted the boundaries, they influenced generations of bands. Love him or loathe him, Morrissey has a fairly unique vocal style, Marrs guitar work influenced an entire sub-genre of Independent music for decades and in doing all that, they didn't ever sign for a major label You don't like them? It doesn't matter, they changed and influenced the British music scene as much as say Led Zep, Black Sabbath and a whole bunch of others The SMiths whether you like them or not, were a very important band.
  6. Seymour Stein was an absolute music biz legend. He will be considered to be one of the industry management greats, up there with Chris Blackwell, Jac Holzman, Ahmet Ertegun, Peter Grant... Responsible for signing a hell of a lot of talent and especially British Talent to Sire
  7. Marr's guitar playing got much better with all the spare time he had when he was running the cafe with Roy in Wetherfield
  8. So the new line appears to be that Wokeism is responsible for child sex abuse
  9. Having a stormer so far, took a -8 to bring in Steele (to replace Sanchez - no brainier on a BB), Moreno (to replace Gabriel) and Willock to replace Odegaard. The 8 points have already been made back with another 5 before the 2nd games. Net total of 69 points including the -8 hit and greens arrows all over the place. Moved up into 3rd place in my money league and I'm only 24 points off 2nd, 2nd has 7 left to play and I have 13. I also have my FH left and he doesn’t
  10. Well I'm at least glad one person can read to the end of a post But yes, I see your point
  11. It really isn't. The local branches still decide who they want out of the acceptable candidates. Currently this is not an attack on the broad church, I doubt the affiliated Unions would allow that. Currently they are using it to deselect candidates who want to remove a layer of local democracy. A local Mayor gets elected on a platform and he/she should be allowed to carry on with that mandate, what these people are effectively saying is, I don't like that mandate so lets get rid of the position. How can someone interested in being more democratic want to remove a pillar of democracy because they don't like the incumbent's mandate? At present, Starmer appears to be using it to protect local democracy, not in the party but the wider community
  12. Thats ultra rare, I think it was a 1000 copy ltd edition vinyl. Never been released elsewhere, the vinyl sells for well over a grand Sandoval (and Horace Andy for that matter) have colaborated quite a but with Massive Attack but I think that EP is the only Burial one
  13. Yep they put Home in brackets for the non office ones
  14. It’s the leadership dictating who can’t stand not who can, that’s a bit different to what you said. But the idea of Labour being democratic was never true, organisations such as Unions or Momentum or Militant etc have always stuffed local parties with “new members” to ensure their preferred candidate got the nomination. What is currently happening in Leicester and previously in Liverpool isn’t about the candidates politics re left or right of the party, it’s about those candidates desire to remove a layer of local democracy in removing directly elected mayors, so there is an argument they are trying to preserve a layer of local democracy for the population. In both those cases, they want to get rid of the DEM because they don’t like the incumbent anymore, the democratically elected incumbent and nothing more. In Liverpool the DEM was Joe Anderson, he was a corrupt word removed and everyone knew it, yet Unite backed him for the nomination every single time. They should have been trying to get rid of him not the position but you know… Unions and democracy. FWIW, I agree with you on the PR bit. Labour getting a huge majority will not help the campaign for PR.
  15. Yes, it's Teen Spirit but it's also Patti Smith. It's a good cover
  16. Island Records Mango imprint did a series called Reggae Greats in the 80s, single albums but each one was an absoluter belter of a compilation, I still have a few of them but I've also lost a few over time.

    Radio Ga Ga

Well here's the really odd thing, I have a lot to be thankful to Craig Charles for, I don't hate him. I just really dislike his daytime radio show. I blagged the guest list to a Craig Charles gig (stand up not DJ) at Liverpool Uni, me and the missus went, had a great night and... 9 months later our daughter was born. So you can see why I don't hate him
  18. Not strictly true, only the words are Costello, the tune is Langers and he specifically wrote it for Wyatt. Wyatt’s version was released in 82. Costello didn’t come out til 83 and it was an album track on Punch The Clock
  19. Judging by the art on the wall that is AMS living room
  20. Now thats actually a bit of a debate. Is it a cover? Written by Langer / McManus for Wyatt and released first by Wyatt too I think
