I guess it all depends what it was If it was Royalist bollocks - no I have a number of times celebrated Bastille Day with the French on the Promenade des Anglais (fortunately not the year of the terrorist attack). I've even watched the parade of military vehicles in the daytime (just to laugh at the funny old uniforms more than anything)

Yes it is https://www.gov.uk/holiday-entitlement-rights Some people have suggested hardly anyone has that as their work conditions. That is clearly nonsense, millions of people will. Millions across many industries.

I'm really not sure why you don't get it. My situation is standard UK employment law, that you think I'm working in the only company in the UK that has that as its annual leave policy is somewhat bizarre.

We need them cutting down imo. Xmas Day, Boxing Day, NYD and the rest to be taken whenever you sodding want. Public Holidays are the worst days to have off

I really don't as my three wages rises in a year putting me in the higher tax bracket testify And this really isn't the discussion. Can't you all accept that some, which is probably in the millions are in that situation. None of your social circles represent a full spectrum of UK workers so stop arguing the toss over something that isn't the point. There will be millions of workers on a very similar holiday package to me, millions. It's not rare at all. As for being paid a premium or a day off in lieu, so what, they still didn't get an extra days holiday. King sausage fingers has stolen millions of days of holidays

This has already happened a number of times. In fact one Ukrainian manufacturer of drones has put up a $1mil dollar prize in a competition to fly a drone into the Red Square parade on May 9th. He will be entering himself (but isn't eligible for the prize), he's already had a couple of drones of his own downed not far shy of Moscow.

I'll wager you are absolutely incorrect. Most low paid jobs/ factory jobs / shop jobs etc will not be on any more than the statutory minimum.

You will be one of the lucky ones, most people especially those on lower pay will be on the standard amount of holidays, not public holidays extra

I was curious. by my reckoning and rough workings, 51 liters per person represents approximately 1/7th of the capacity of Kielder Water, thats capacity not throughput

Despite what some lucky people will tell you in this forum about their annual leave packages, most people in the UK get a set number of days off that include public holidays, so if a new public holiday is declared, it comes off your personal allowance, the number of days off doesn't change. Kind Sausage FIngers has granted me a holiday I can't choose. Word Removed.

Yes, Greece had a particular habit of abolishing / restoring throughout the twentieth century (there are a couple of others too) There have also been a good number of referenda where the Monarchy has been retained (but that isn't what you asked)
