  1. My understanding is that it was just one of those things which stuck. I know that Nays but............see above
  2. Its based in KIRKBY is the point I was making and how ironic that is
  3. Oh and another couple of things to note from yesterdays game I noticed Everton still play their Smalltime Seat Bingo at Half time, that is so embarrassing. Almost as shocking as playing that Celtic song "Grand old Team to Play for" as sung by Ken Dodds diddymen, that is decades out of time And here's the other thing that occurred to me, their run out theme is the old Z Cars theme as we all know and all the Evertonians I know love it, have it as a ringtone etc etc But why? It was a series about the police force but my comment isn't about that as such, its about where that series was based. It was set in Kirkby, which even back then was firmly in Everton territory but isn't that just a we bit ironic?
  4. real but personally speaking, if it wasn't for the family I really woldnt bother
  5. I think he derives far too much pleasure scoring against us, after his first goal his celebration was almost worthy of posting on Youporn, his second goal celebration was utterly ludicrous, why run towards the villa fans and do that? were there not enough everton fans to run towards? Its not like he got any stick from the villa fans at all, unlike Neville an a few other everton players
  6. not forgetting the subsequent time wasting by worf with his outrageous celebration in front of the away fans (you know, the ones he's supposedly one of), that time gets added back on (again, no booking for that!)
  7. the ref was utterly inept his idea of advantage was bizarre to say the least his idea of what constituted a yellow card was daft with no consistency at all. There was no way luke Youngs card was a card, there were far far far worse fouls in that game and far far more cynical ones that went uncarded. he refusal to even contemplate over ruling his assistants even though they were three times the distance away from the incidents than he was was bordering on the stupid. I think there was a succesion of three or four line calls that the wrong team got the throw / kick in a row and every time the ref was loser than the assistant and it was obvious the call was wrong the ref got backchat from both sides because he was so inept and lacked any consistency in his decisions, he would call very similar incidents differently they never knew where they stood with him simply a very bad ref, he also let the crowd make decisions for him at times
  8. Not in work until Thursday unfortunately, it will still be amusing to say the least
  9. Sorry Bicks but no it wasn't It was, Freidel completely changes the balls trajectory, where the ball went up slightly but dropped much quicker than it would have done if he hadn't touched it. In essence it doesn't matter, it didn't go in. Neither did his header that Carlos cleared either. Its all a bit like saying Gareth Barry should've had a hat trick against fulham
  10. It was the ref that pissed all over our midfield. Apparently even after you are yellow cardered you can continue to foul after foul after foul and you don't get another one His header that hit the crossbar was actually going over until Friedel got a hand to it too
  11. Seriously? We thought he was shit, he'd borrowed George Berry's hair and skill level, also if the ref had had any balls he'd have ben sent off for persistent foul play. How he got away with so many cynical fouls after he's already received a yellow was beyond me, but with that bizarre ref anything was probable except for what was right. If he'd been any good they'd have won, seriously he's George Berry in semi-disguise
  12. Topic cleaned of all the personal stuff, pm's have ben exchanged s can we carry on with the debate now leaving all our personal baggage at the door please
  13. You haven't heard of The Great Escape?! Stallone is a goalkeeper! No he's not, thats Escape to Victory, the Great Escape is Steve McQueen a motorbike and the Swiss border with Gordon Jackson making a schoolboy error and ending up being machine gunned into a ditch
  14. Sorry AG but sitting here deep in Blue territory I have to say I'm rather bored of the Kenwright is Selling Up / Kenwright is seeking new investment rubbish, he's been saying it for years and not once has it materialised. Firstly its not actually his club to sell, what percentage of shares does he actually own? Not the ones he sits on, on behalf of others like Lord Grantchester or whoever it is but he himself, how many does he own?
  15. I agree with that, two chains that had lost their way in the current market a long time ago. Sure the Credit Crunch may have finally done for them but it would have happened sooner or later anyway
  16. you could be in luck as there are lots of Rumours that Tom Cruise is starring in a remake ... be careful what you wish for though as it could turn into a America wins the Battle of Britain film but agree , the original does kinda make you cringe when you see the same plane being shot down over and over in the film ..sometimes they don't even bother using different camera angles to try and disguise the act they only had 1 plane :-) I think Battle of Britain is a possible exception to my post above, partly because its a film about an event, not about a story written by someone. you could make a film called Battle of Britain and it could be completely different to the original
  17. Why on earth would you want any films remade? If it was a classic the first time around, why spoil it? If it was shit the first time around, is it worth polishing a turd?
  18. Except that they did of course. Almost too similar at times. I never saw (heard) that either. Now The Chameleons... ***EDIT Meh, Travis Bickle beat me to it*** :winkold: YAY, I am not alone in knowing this
  19. Except that they did of course. Almost too similar at times. Name me one song of theirs that sounds like Joy Division, seriously I've never found one and once you've found that song tell us how its like Joy Division. Now I like both bands, In fact I've seen both bands Live more than once (yes yes yes I know I'm showing my age ) but I just don't get any of the comparisons. There are a whole host of those post-punk bands that the Editors can sound like in places but Joy Division? nah think its a myth, it doesn't stand up to scrutiny I'm serious btw, show me a song that sounds like Joy Division
  20. Well I'd have to say you were talking shit in that instance then But Yes Pornography is a top album, the Forest is a great single Now if you were to offer the opinion that the Cure possibly inadvertently invented Post Rock o the Faith album I might have agreed with you But an influence on the Smiths, nope, not at all, now taking it back to the Editors, the Smiths may have had an influence there too
  21. So come on then, name all these bands that the Cure inspired if they were so influential? the Cure ceased to be a great band the day they released Love Cats, they have had moments since but not many. Pornography is their finest moment and will never be bettered The Cure, First 4 albums were Great and its been a long slide down since with the odd decent song along the way
  22. Have you ever encountered the concept of identity theft?
  23. Blandy is right as per usual except for one thing, the Editors never did sound like Joy Division, they sounded like another band from Manchester, The Chameleons they don't any more The Editors had never heard of the Chameleons not had they consciously heard them, which I found interesting The Editors certainly sound even less like Joy Division now, hell they don't even sound like the Chameleons any more And if you haven't heard of or just heard the Chameleons, do so, first albums just had the 25th anniversary treatment, its one of those forgotten classics
