  1. Yeah but this is Radiohead who never seemingly rush anything releasewise
  2. Radiohead offshoot The Smile must be on some sort of steroids, they’ve just announced their third album is coming out in October, the second release this year. It’s on my list already.
  3. What, K-Tel was a crap label? Sometimes it got it bang on.
  4. So hotel chains have started cancelling their bookings that coincide with he oasis dates and relisting them at three and four times the price
  5. Nah too much and it detracts from the magnificence of the biscuit £3 for what I reckon was 6 Custard creams covered in too much chocolate
  6. Exactly and even more so the vinyl albums chart because that's where people have invested actual large amounts of money in physical media, there isn't a specific physical media chart as far as I'm aware but the vinyl one definitely shows the dedication to the particular act.
  7. And that as always is a nonsensical argument. Define big business? It always used to be a band that was selling out 2K capacity halls were doing the business and there are many many current guitar based bands that are doing that.
  8. This isn't particularly true either. Go look at the vinyl album charts and guitar based music sits in there quite comfortably with the pop of Taylor Swift / Post Malone / BeebaDoobee and all the Pop. A lot of it is reissue / repress stuff but The Stranglers new collection is straight in at 3 whereas Oasis only resurfaced at 30 something. Hamish Hawk is straight in at 4. Smashing Pumpkins new collection straight in at 8 The idea that guitar based music is dead or even niche is just not remotely true

    Uber

Nice 290 million Euro fine for transferring all their drivers data to the US.
  10. There are absolutely loads, you just don't know them because a combination of you not having the time to make the effort of discovering them and the music Biz in general concentrating on shite disposable (and cheap) dance music. The idea that there isn't a lot of these bands is silly, you just don't know them. A new band will make a breakthrough despite this at some point and the music biz will them want a slice of that pie again.
  11. Plenty out there Check out Thee Oh Sees / Oh Sees / OCS and however many other variants. Then there's Frankie and the Witch FIngers and Ty Segall (and all his variants - check out Fuzz if you want riffage)
  12. Love those but here's the odd thing, I think because of the caramel, they actually last me longer
  13. Coppers and nurses has always been a thing
  14. That can also be pop music, they aren't mutually exclusive
  15. Pop music is very hard to define again it isn't a genre. The Buzzcocks were pop music. The Cure make pop songs (not exclusively) etc
  16. Brit Pop / Cool Britannia. Same thing really, it's just a media / music biz invention. It was never a "movement" like say punk / 2 Tone / Metal etc, nothing about it was organic, there were no shared values or styles. Oasis / Pulp / Blur / Radiohead et al have very little similarity at all. Even the Blur vs Oasis thing was marketing hype based on two knobs not liking each other. No band ever set out to be a Brit Pop band.
  17. Wait until you find out there are three line ups of Bjorn Again
  18. No idea why I said Blur, I meant Pulp.
  19. Blur and Radiohead have absolutely nothing to do with Britpop, Britpop isn't and never was anything other than a media label. The Spice Girls were part of Britpop and guess what, they are bigger than all those bands.
  20. Deny him what? I'd pretty much ignore him, like I ignore members of the SWP or any other dickhead that tries to sell me a philosophy on the street
  21. Genuinely not a wind up, I've seen most of those bands and rate at least 6 of them as a better live experience than Oasis. Oasis really aren't that good live, I've seen a few dreadful performances from them tbh. Last time I saw them at the Royal Court in Liverpool, they were crap. They would have been better live after all the original members left if it wasn't for the dreadful Noel / Liam interactions but I've never seen them after that point but the Noel / Liam thing was nearly always ruinous.
  22. The big 4 being Radiohead, Pulp, Blur and Spiritualized? Oasis are the 7th best band on that list (and I have no opinion on the bottom three)
  23. Not any more. It’s 20 miles away now Wouldnt have bought them in Waitrose either
