  1. It’s a bus station and multi-storey car park, it’s meant to be utilitarian. It's there to serve two purposes. Apparently it’s so well built, they didn’t have to replace much. It still has the Pirelli rubber floors and believe it or not there’s wood in there, hardwood imported from Africa. The council let it get dirty (cuts and all that) that was its major problem, it just wasn’t looked after.
  2. Did fail, first time in a very long time Wordle 976 X/6*
  3. Considered a brutalist masterpiece
  4. So that’s what the gatefold looks like, mines still in the shrink wrap
  5. Birminghams particular problem is the equal pay claims won by the unions when the council was Tory controlled but the chickens have finally come home to roost with Labour in power. Both parties at fault over time because the claims go back decades.
  6. That’ll be amusing. I’ve seen it attempted a few times either in education or the NHS. The only ways to reduce the costs are: Ser up your own council transportation system. Which means buying vehicles and employing people plus training them. Which May cut the costs marginally over say 2 decades or Double and triple up the children this doesn’t save as much as they’ll imagine because most kids getting council provided transport have special needs and / or behavioural problems and can’t travel with other children and possibly have to have supervision I’ve got a mate who sells an integrated software solution for account holders with cab firms that minimises costs but he reckons they can shave about 15% of the costs but they have to take their cut too. They try to renegotiate the contracts and the cab firms will just either refuse or cancel the contract. The people that supervise the children aren’t going to take a pay cut as they’ll mostly be women on short hours and minimum wage remind me, how did this mess start again? They’ll never make savings of the magnitude they imagine
  7. Mogadon should be prescribed to anyone putting gravy on fish.
  8. Yes and impossible to implement Equipping future generations with no internet access until they are 16 is batshit crazy. Can you imagine the social stigma of a child being the only child in their school to have a modern Nokia 3310. There are plenty of options out there for dumb phones, they still exist, no-one buys them for their children Lots of parents use the child's phone location to see where their children are, can't do that with a dumb phone for starters. The solution to the problem, which in the grand scheme of things is a very miniscule problem and causes many more problems than it solves is.... education. If anyone ever implemented the technology to do what this woman wants via a legal instrument, it's absolutely guaranteed that at some point the same would be used to prevent the general population doing things too and they'd start that off with any kind of copyright infringement
  9. Next up, Tricky - Maxinquaye followed by DJ Shadow - Endtroducing. Listen to those and you'll be trading in your German car for a Honda Jazz
  10. They aren't even doing that. All they've done is change their guidance to schools. It's a complete non-event and it's just jumping on the bandwagon created by Brianna Ghey's mother's insane idea to prevent children having access to the internet.
  11. Beat Definitely Maybe to the Mercury Prize that year
  12. I was having my usual Sunday ritual long bath with the radio on, rather later than usual and Tom Robinson was on doing his request show and this week was a tribute to Damo Suzuki. Now Tom Robinson is ok, at least I credit him with having musical knowledge and interest but to listen to him presenting this show and having his ears opened to “krautrock” was just a joy to listen to, he'd clearly never heard half the music he was playing (he said as much) and on few occasions just started a sentence after a song with Wow…! Quite entertaining listening to a an obvious muso having a moment of discovery live on air over 2 hours, also reckon I have most of the music on the show in my collection
  13. Nazi ideology was born out of Lutheran Protestantism and Martin Luther's overt antisemitism Most high ranking members of the NSDAP came from Bavaria, that’s true but they were from the Protestant minority Its also true though that Hitler, Goebels and Goering were all born Catholic Also this map isn’t really saying much apart from the Catholics had their own well established RW party to vote for
  14. The other thing I read when I found that was that the Catholics had different parties that they voted for which were also RW but there was one Nazi policy that they particularly disagreed with. (I forget what it was)
  15. The source for the map is Wiki. So the source for the Russian figure is this article on the Amnesty International website. Yep Its bollocks
  16. For fans of The Clash, KRS-1, The Fugess, Grant Theft Auto and The Way of the Samuri
  17. Less, the Nazi vote was mainly protestant
  18. Boundary changes are huge in South Staffs, over 40% of it going to the new Stone et al Constituency and gaining a bit from Dudley South which will probably bring in more Labour voters but not enough, yep that's a bound to be blue constituency. If the Tories lose that, they will be as good as extinct
