  1. And some women have already had them removed due to previous medical episodes
  2. Russia has send conscripts to Ukraine, some have died, some have been captured. You keep saying it hasn’t happened despite posting articles that say it has. Russia has admitted this has happened. You don’t send conscripts to the frontline in error. Not only that but when Russia did mobilize 300k men with “military experience” how do you imagine they got that experience? Essentially they were conscripted a second time. Most of them didn’t volunteer
  3. It really hasn’t. Where did that bullshit come from? Russia has even acknowledged that this isn’t the case and Ukraine have taken many conscripted men as POWs
  4. Do you have a link to the peer reviewed paper where this was proved? As I might just want to tell them they're talking shit
  5. Sadly it’s an advertising stunt, a good one but nonetheless completely staged by Specsavers, they have been put in a few cities, there’s one in Liverpool right now, the bollards are false and the van is held up by a metal frame. /killjoy
  6. Yeah I don’t blame you, I already had quite a few so only had to buy a couple
  7. Witchcraft, it’s witchcraft I tells ya White Stout 5.3%
  8. Originally released in 1979 on Hitrun, Adrian Sherwood's pre On-U Sound label. The third Creation Rebel album - Rebel Vibrations, not released on vinyl since then until this week. I think this is the first AMS production to feature Style Scott on drums and percussion along with the usual CR crew of Crucial Tony, Lizard Doctor Pablo etc. It kind of hints at the masterpiece that was to follow Starship Africa (also rereleased for the first time in many years this week)
  9. Seeing the Small Faces Tin Soldier reminded me it isn’t even the the best song with Tin Soldier in the title (I like both songs btw)
  10. Whilst the movie was crap, it certainly got lots of publicity. I'd also wager that if it was released after 1980 it would have faired much better at the box office. By 1978 no one really cared about The Beatles in the UK, they were an artefact from another era. The Mod thing around 79 and Weller gave them a new minor audience but only specific albums like Revolver from the psychedelic era really and even that was relatively low key. For sure musicians still talked about them and were influenced by them but the punters had moved on to Bowie and all the 70s icons, I’d even wager by the end of the 80s The Who were more popular (Quadrophenia / Mod revival / The Jam) and possibly even the Small Faces. Then along came Mark Chapman and it starts to very slowly blow up again but even in the early 80s McCartney was still releasing desperate desperate records like the Frog Chorus which I doubt he’d have done if The Beatles were as big as they are again now.
  11. Sorry, this isn’t correct. Yes had albums that were certified gold in the UK on release day and topped the album charts. Even the Buggles / Yes dross sold well and then came Owner of a Lonely Heart and all that nonsense Might not have been as popular as Led Zep and Pink Floyd but they were pretty big in the UK
  12. B-sides. The flip to Mouldy Old Dough by Lieutenant Pigeon A heavy influence on the very first incarnation of The Fall. MES and Martin Bramah used to play this endlessly trying to replicate the guitar sound.
  13. At some point you have to say but the shareholders keep taking profits when the profits should have been used to stop flushing jobbies down the river I get the investors / shareholders / pensions thing, I really do but quite frankly they are taking the piss (quite literally) As for the investors in Thames Water saying that they'll only put the money in if the charges go up (massively) then its shit or bust and they clearly chose bust
  14. Not waste money chasing income that doesn't exist and cant exist on a scale a lot of members of this forum imagine does exist We need to concentrate on being a football club, any extra income from events would buy us one of John McGinn's legs
  15. It doesn't matter, the times are still similar and most WCML trains do not go through Brum. The point isn't about the exact times though in my experience those times are more or less correct. Liverpool is almost as close to London in travel time as it is the Birmingham. Shall I drive to Birmingham - 2 hrs or get the train to London - just over 2hrs. The point is that Birmingham will never replace London as an event destination no matter how much Birmingham exceptionalism you apply. The sheer mountain of industries you'd have to change to achieve that is insurmountable. Birmingham would obviously get a few events, it already does, a new stadium increased capacity stadium with multi roles isn't going to change that. The versatility would be wasted money. Birmingham already has the NEC for a very large, well connected high capacity indoor venue, it doesn't put on that many events of the nature we're talking about
  16. Yes and that is on direct trains no changes LPL - LEU = 2hrs 15, LPL - BHM = 2 hrs
  17. It takes as long to get by train to London as it does to Birmingham from Liverpool. Pretty similar for most of those places. Birmingham is not currently on the West Coast Main Line proper and the speeds of trains on the West Mids rail network is vastly reduced. Now the 2nd leg of HS2 has been cancelled those services will now be further degraded in the future.
  18. Does that exist because the lemonade doesn't have any lemonade duty charged on it as it is for domestic heating and agricultural use?
  19. It really isn't, Birmingham is in London's catchment area. Broadstairs and Brighton for example are not in Birmingham's
  20. How long does it take to stage a Stadium concert? It's not just rock up on the day like it is at a traditional concert hall. How long does it take to set up one of those motor cross type events they also hold in stadiums, it's not just dump a load of dirt there. Days before the event and days after. It's not possible for a top flight football club, especially one that has an ambition to be a top European club, it really isn't compatible.
  21. No I definitely didn't. I said its a genre I don't like and there much better in a similar vein (ie electronic music made using 404's Ataris, 303 etc). No actual comparison was made other than that's shite and this is better but they come from a very similar musical gene pool because they undeniably do.
