  1. This. He is fantastic and always talks sense. I remember how honest and complimentary he was about us when interviewed at HT during our FA Cup semi final against Chelsea (when he was assistant coach). Id love him as a no.2 at villa!
  2. Bannan is our most creative midfielder and is our best deliverer of a football - he is a very intelligent footballer on the field and always enhances our attacking threat in a game. Prior to his DD crash he was playing excellent. I want to see Jenas start this one - anyone know how his fitness is? (i.e. has he had any reserve game time since his cameo against Norwich?)

    Flags

Although I cant offer any information to help you id love to see a pic of the flag?
  4. This video sent a chill down my spine. I was stupid enough to drink and drive when I was 18 and crashed my car (luckily just into a central reservation and no one was hurt) and regretted it immediately - I remember being arrested and feeling disgusted with myself (FWIW they had to prove I was over the limit by blood, im not excusing myself but I was nowhere near twice the limit like Luke McCormick) and had let my family and myself down. I was relieved in a way as I knew how easily that could have led to the death of innocent people such as those who died as a result of Luke McCormack's actions. Seeing that video hits home just how easily you can throw your own life away and ruin the lives of others forever by being a total idiot. Barry Bannan should count himself very lucky not to have killed someone and I hope he has learned his lesson.
  5. Yeah im in the lower. Its my third visit and the previous two times i've been in the upper - always seemed decent banter in the lower. Cold winter evening in London, Monday night, = villa boys in great voice!!
  6. May as well join the queue - if anyone has two spare for this then please PM me? I phoned up the other day and they told me it was sold out - yet the website still said tickets were available. Wasn't happy with this.
  7. Anyone got any plans to hit a boozer for Spurs away? If so where's the best place to go for beers and a sing song? When I was at QPR away, I bumped into Nigel Kennedy in the Walkabout full of Villa fans, I said hello to him, to which he replied with "Alright Kid, ready to rumble?" - Legend. I'm sure he'll be there at Spurs.
  8. He missed 2 sitters today, both created by Gabby Neither was a "sitter" to be fair. But I feel that his misses do get magnified due to the shortage of service he receives.
  9. I'm not quite sure where all this criticism is coming from - Bent signed for us knowing that we had Young and Downing as a supply line. Now Bent has never been anything but a poacher, but the fact we have removed a quality supply line means he simply has no service to thrive on. Bent is a proven, excellent goal scorer - he just needs feeding.
  10. Because you're villa 'til you die, you're villa 'til you die, you know you are, you're sure you are, you're villa 'til you die
  11. Bannan was our best player against Blues in the C.Cup Quarter Final last year
  12. Milner loan deal in Jan anyone?? Apparently we made an unsuccessful bid for a loan deal for him and Adam Johnson in the summer. IMO Milner is exactly what we need in our centre of midfield - whether or not he'd a) come back, take a pay cut to play is a different matter. Read in The Sun yesterday that Milner had spoken of his desire to play more in order to help his chances of sustaining a place in Capello's England team. It was through his excellent work for us that got him a regular place in the team. He just isn't going to get the chance at City. Wish we'd get him, we're not going to be of any threat to Man City this year so we should try.
  13. Who needs Barry when you've got Barry Bannan Who needs Barry when you've got Barry Bannan Who needs Barry when you've got Barry Bannan Whoooaaa Barry Bannan
  14. GH: Agree. MON: Got us wins away at Man Utd (first time since 1986), Arsenal, Liverpool, as well as a fantastic 4-4 draw against Chelsea away. You don't score 4 goals away at Chelsea by going there to keep the score down.
  15. Guys, where about's is Walkabout bar? I live in Fulham/Hammersmith so am very close to QPR - couple of stops on tube or short bus ride, just be good to get into an away pub before the game to sink some jars and have a sing song.
  16. The game is on SKY on 25th SEPTEMBER not October.
  17. That's a coincidence because I saw a full-size Barry Bannan on a Hong Kong beer mat.
  18. We're in the final! Woohooo.... haha. Seriously though, we deserved the win and a could have (should have) added more goals - but huge credit goes to Shay Given for an incredible save to prevent an equalizer from Brett Emerton! A very competitive 'friendly' which both sets of players did very well under the extreme hot conditions. Subs made were Albrighton, Delfoneso and Delph for Pets, Agbonlahor and Makoun. Thought Makoun looked sloppy in first half and Delph looked alot better on the ball - Makoun was guilty of giving it away quite a few times and didn't look as calm on the ball as Id want. Very committed performance s from (MOTM) Collins, Dunne, L.Young (love this guy so much!) and Warnock. Delph too showed great desire with his tackles. Albrighton looked lively-ish but I felt Bannan looked better (both played on the right) and 'Alby' showed, as he did a few times last season that he is still somewhat immature by playing through their striker which, save for a challenge by Collins could have cost us dearly. In the Prem with sharper strikers (it is pre-season afterall) we would have been punished...unless it was Mario 'ill backheel it 'cos im cool' Ballotelli. Overall we looked solid at the back and a clean sheet is always a brucie bonus. The commentators (Tyler and Dion Dublin) mentioned again how they observed AM spending time alone with our CB's to deal with crosses etc - if this is the case and is something that continues (as we all know must do) then we could well have our defence that was so stern under MON's reign. Positives: Great save from Given, showing just why we bought him. Very happy with this signing. Bent doing what he does best. Petrov, Bannan and Delph shinign for me as well as a tight defence. Need few more players to build squad depth and hope AM addresses this soon, just bringing in Given and Nzogbia for me, isnt enough to cover all the players who have left (NRC, Carew, Downing, Young, Fridel etc). However hopefully Stephen Irleand will start to show why we expect so much from him - more of his through-ball passing which set up Bents goal the other day at Walsall showed me that on his day he could be a vital player - and hearing AM say that he has high hopes for SI at Villa gives me comfort. Roll on Chelsea in the final!
  19. Ireland could be an ideal man to at behind Bent. Like him or not Ireland has great vision and I could see him effectively picking out Bent's predatory runs. He is a strange fellow for sure but we should really try and get the best out of him whilst he us still here. With his head (hopefully) in good shape and him injury free we could get alot from him! The guy definitely has talent!
  20. How can the new kit take priority over the manager of the football club? Getting a new manager is first and foremost the single most important item on any agenda within avfc.
