  1. I thought of that exact comparison too. Seems similar except beating West Ham pretty much guaranteed our safety. I was at that game and will be there Saturday so hope it's a good omen
  2. Hmm, a bit of that yes, but they know they've been in a game tonight. But the thing is, we've almost got something out of perhaps the toughest game of our run-in. There's no reason we can't get something from any of the others. We're all seeing Reading and QPR as the opportunity, when in fact we could very well lose both but win 2 or 3 others and be OK. we lost again. we are in the relegation zone. we have already conceded as many goals as we did last season. we have scored just 26 in 28 league games. we keep saying if we play like we did against... we will be ok, the results will come etc. they havent, we remain as poor as ever. the idea that we should just accept the loss because city have a more expensive team so there is nothing we can do is something i cannot understand. southampton actually went and got something out of their game against city. bradfords team cost £7500, they beat us. with only ten games to go we need to stop talking about how we could have got or deserved to get points, and actually be putting them on the board Good post Hmm, a bit of that yes, but they know they've been in a game tonight. 3. Must admit he spoke a great deal of sense.
  4. Thats not the game I saw - well organised and worked very hard against much better team I thought Westwood was neat, tidy and pretty decent Agree
  5. The ground is about 3miles from the centre of Reading
  6. Apparently The Three Guineas is a designated away pub, in the centre of Reading by the train station

The problem lies with Lambert continually subbing the one player who is composed, Westwood around 70 minutes and replacing him with a winger. The amount of points we've lost when Westwood left the pitch is depressing. Its in those last 15-20 minutes where we need ball keepers and composed players and Westwood is good at that.
  8. I know we havn't had the Man City game yet, but my mind keeps drifting towards next week's clash at Reading as I feel it is without doubt the biggest game of our season. Not expecting any points from the City game which makes this so important. We usually play better away from home although Reading have picked up their home form - and seem to enjoy scoring late goals, whilst we seem pretty good at conceding late ones. Did Pogrebnyak get a red the other day for dangerous play? If so is he out for our clash? We're going to have a full away end rocking and getting behind the boys. I just hope we can get the 3pts.
  9. Given the choice (i.e. in dreamland) would you rather have Bale or RVP at Villa?
  10. So we need to win every game? Haha OK then, we are definitely going down. We are desperate for points, but a draw would be a very welcome point here. My point is that if we disregard this game because its unlikely we'll win then that'll just heap miles more pressure on the games that we stand a chance of winning and we've seen how well we deal with pressure (West Ham aside). Each and every game should be considered a 'must-win' or a 'cup final' as with the intent that comes with those games will give us a better chance of surviving. We cannot just rely on beating Reading, Fulham, QPR etc - as there's no guarantee that we will...and if that's the case then we'll need points elsewhere. I agree with the notion that we are going to need to upset the odds in one or two games between now and the end of the season to stay up, whether that's with surprise draws against say City and Chelsea. Or a surprise 3 points again against Liverpool. Somewhere along the line we'll have to pick up what some would describe as 'bonus points', the ones we were not expecting. Excatly yes, that's what I feel too - 'bonus points' is a good way of putting it.

But how likely is it that we can get those points? We are atrocious at home. Fulham and Sunderland will be very tough and despite QPR being rock bottom they will come to VP knowing how nervous we are. If we can win at Reading then hopefully that can inspire us...but that's a big "if". I'm not liking that fact that it could be a direct face off with Wigan for survival..and that sentence is depressing enough and a sign of the times for our football club.
  13. Because every game from now on is a 'must win'. Just because there's no expectancy for us to win it doesn't take away how desperate for points we are. Add to that we have lost to our relegation rivals at VP this year (Newcastle, Saints, Wigan) only heightens the need to get points against any opposition.
  14. We always turn to shit when Westwood gets brought off. We should try keeping him on when we have something to protect
  15. Fearing a backlash - but as someone said above if, by some chance we can get the first goal then this could make it interesting as their fans would start getting on their (and Wenger's) back. Although that said, i'm still expecting a defeat so anything other than that would be a bonus.
  16. Its hard being a Villa fan anywhere mate...the bastards.
  17. For me I think Lambert's team selection will ultimately tell us how well Sylla is adapting and how well he has trained, and ultimately how well he has impressed PL. That said I still expect Delph to be starting as we got the win against the Hammers and Delph did good enough to warrant being picked.
  18. FFS. Another drubbing live on tele - plus makes it near impossible for me to get up to this from London with work. What a shitter.
  19. But putting him with the kids doesnt stop us paying his wages - and definitely doesnt help us with our fight to stay up. He is (at times) excellent and we shouldnt be 'phasing' him out when we could well need him. He could be useful for us against Arsenal
  20. Anyone got any ounce of confidence that we can not lose here? Would you play Sylla? Dawkins? Delph? I personally think he'll start with same team as he did against West Ham but bringing in Gabby for Bowery.
  21. The miss would only play on his mind if we lost - which we didnt. He'll be scoring goals in training over the next two weeks and has got us 9 goals this season. He'll be fine. He is a different sort of attacker to any of the others we have and has shown this season that he has the capability to score goals
